About us

At Trainline, our purpose is to empower greener travel choices, connecting people and places. Trainline enables millions of travellers to find and book the best value tickets across carriers, fares, and journey options through our highly rated mobile app, website, and B2B partner channels.

Great journeys start with Trainline 🚄

We’re Europe’s leading independent rail platform, helping millions of travellers find and book the best-value rail and coach journeys across our app, website and partner channels.

Our job is to make the green travel choice the best choice. By building a better train travel experience, we help more people choose rail - creating a positive impact for customers, our business and the planet.

We’re a team of more than 1,000 Trainliners from over 50 nationalities, working across London, Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Edinburgh and Madrid. Now is a brilliant time to join us and help shape the future of travel.

Introducing the Trainline Finance Team 👋

The FP&A team sits at the heart of Trainline's financial intelligence, translating complex business dynamics - booking volumes, yield trends, marketing spend efficiency, product economics, and partner commercial terms - into clear financial narratives and actionable insight. We partner closely across the business to help leaders understand performance, plan for growth, and make smarter decisions.

We are in the middle of a meaningful finance transformation, and Pigment is central to it. We are building the in-house capability to own our FP&A platform end-to-end, automating reporting, enabling self-service for business partners, and freeing our analysts to focus on insight rather than production. Reporting to the Head of FP&A, this role is the foundation of that ambition - and it's an exciting moment to join. You will be the first point of contact for Pigment, supported by Pigment's Premium Success Plan, giving you structured coaching and expert oversight as you grow into full ownership of the platform. You will work closely with the Head of FP&A, who retains overall platform ownership and direction.

In this role as the EPM Specialist - Pigment, you will... 🚄

  • Maintain existing Pigment models that support the planning and reporting cycle, including annual budget, rolling forecast, monthly close commentary, and MBR/QBR packs. Flag issues or improvement opportunities.

  • Built intuitive self-service tools and automate reporting workflows currently built manually in Excel or PowerPoint, that allow Commercial Finance business partners to run scenario analysis and variant requests independently, without routing through central FP&A.

  • Stay current with Pigment's core feature set, flagging relevant updates or capability gaps for prioritisation.

  • Liaise with Data and Engineering teams to flag data quality issues in Pigment, supporting resolution.

  • Communicate clearly with Finance stakeholders, explaining how existing Pigment models and reports work and supporting users with day-to-day queries.

We'd love to hear from you if you have... 🔍

  • Experience working within and maintaining models in Pigment, Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, or a comparable EPM platform. Direct Pigment experience is a welcome plus; platform-specific training will be provided.

  • Good technical aptitude, including comfort with data structures, formula logic, and dimension hierarchies within an EPM tool.

  • The ability to understand business requirements and work within established platform solutions to support users effectively.

  • Clear, confident communication skills, with the ability to explain complex platform concepts to non-technical stakeholders and manage competing priorities calmly and collaboratively.

  • A methodical, detail-oriented approach to your work, with a commitment to maintaining governance standards and documenting in a way that others can follow.

  • A bonus if you have some FP&A or commercial finance experience from within a finance team.

  • You may also bring experience from a high-growth technology business, marketplace, or consumer-facing environment, which would be a great addition to the team.
