About the Role

As a Senior Marketing Manager, you will play a crucial role in advising and shaping the go-to-market strategies for game titles within Tencent's minority studio portfolio. Joining the Venture Lab team, you will act as a hands-on consultant for game development studios, driving and amplifying their self-publishing efforts in global markets on various platforms (PC and Console). Your primary focus will be on providing marketing advisory for new and established PvP-oriented titles across genres such as Extraction Shooter, Survival Open World Crafting, and Survival Horror.

Job Responsibilities

  • Gain Trust: Build strong relationships with studio teams to influence their publishing plans and guide them in driving commercially successful products.
  • Player Insights: Collaborate with consumer and user research, as well as data partners, to develop player insights that inform global strategies and marketing plans.
  • Marketability: Identify precise positioning and amplify the products’ unique selling points (USPs) and messaging to maximize the total addressable market. Support studios in driving acquisition, engagement, and retention through all phases (Alpha, Beta, Early Access, launch, and beyond).
  • Campaigns: Guide game launch campaigns, support studios in achieving marketing KPIs across platforms, and monitor campaign performance.
  • Opportunities: Identify and pursue localized brand partnerships and opportunities based on digital events, holidays, and festivals.
  • Competitive Analysis: Monitor competing games and adjust go-to-market strategies with new content and campaign suggestions.
  • Agency Collaboration: Provide strong recommendations on agencies, monitor their deliverables, and give accurate feedback, aligning these with studio teams.
  • Operational Support: Guide studios on their team organization and marketing budgets, ensuring they have the resources and strategies needed for success.

Who We Look For

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher. Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Experience: 8+ years with a successful track record of launching and managing publishing efforts for multiplayer, PvP-oriented titles on PC and console from early development to post-launch. Experience working closely with developers and understanding the alignment of production with marketing needs. A deep understanding of product marketing and broad knowledge of key publishing aspects like UA, PR, influencer marketing will be vital to provide all-rounder advisory.
  • Platform Knowledge: Experience with marketing tactics and up-to-date changes on key platforms, including Steam and first-party platforms.
  • Market Knowledge: Adapt to new strategies and changing landscapes with a passion for and interest in commercially successful and relevant competitors.
  • Approach: Be proactive, approachable, and hands-on. Take ownership and drive urgency, focusing on high-impact work.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, able to work with studio teams across different time zones.
  • Project Management: Highly organized, able to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel to support partners in North America, Western Europe, or Asia.
