Role Summary:

Fiduciary management, the primary multi-asset solution in the UK and Europe, involves the delegation of investment decision-making to an expert provider. Fiduciary management incorporates a range of Russell Investments’ services (e.g. asset management and strategy advice) and plays to Russell Investments’ strengths in these areas.

The role involves working with Russell’s fiduciary management clients. The focus will predominantly be to build strong client relationships, working alongside colleagues to deliver strategy, investment management and implementation services. In addition, associates will be required to support the sales team in winning new business. The Senior Manager will both lead on clients and support senior members of the team, interacting with other departments to assist in the delivery of services. Ultimately the position is expected to contribute to client retention and the evolution of the fiduciary management proposition across the EMEA region.

The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:

Regulatory & Business conduct

  • Displaying exemplary conduct and living by our organisation’s Code of Conduct.

  • Effectively and collaboratively identifying, escalating, mitigating and resolving risk, conduct and compliance.

Client Management

  • Servicing fiduciary management client relationships.

  • Taking a leading role, as well as supporting other relationship managers, in all aspects of client management, including preparation of client presentations, delivery of customised reports, liaison with the investment division, etc.

  • Establishing a strong working relationship with clients and providing effective and timely responses to clients’ requests.

Planning and strategy

  • Leading in proactively planning and executing strategies to retain and expand client relationships.

Middle office team oversight

  • Helping supervise all functions outsourced to the middle office team, including client onboarding, audit queries, preparation and distribution of quarterly reports, etc.

Process enhancement

  • Leading and providing support for internal project work.

  • Proactively suggesting and leading on (as well as supporting) enhancements in processes, systems and client experience.


Service enhancement

  • Understanding the services we offer and highlighting where they can be delivered more efficiently/effectively.

  • Getting involved in the development of services where relevant.

Business development

  • Assisting the sales team in business development efforts.

  • Supporting on fiduciary management opportunities where required. This may include building case studies, gathering client testimonials and providing information to support to sales process.

The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:

  • CFA Charterholders or qualified actuaries (with an investment background) is essential.

  • Relevant BSC/BA or equivalent qualification / skills required.

  • Significant experience in the financial services/investment industry of which significant experience will be in UK Pension Fund industry.

  • Experience with managing a broad range of clients.

  • A close working knowledge of the practical needs and experiences of pensions, present and future, of the UK institutional marketplace.

  • Good knowledge and understanding of all major asset classes, with the ability to articulate investment processes knowledgeably and credibly.

  • The ability to communicate effectively and knowledgeably with both colleagues and prospective clients.

  • Promotes and facilitates the work of a group as well as contributing as a productive member of the team;

  • Participates fully by sharing responsibility and ideas and gives credit and recognition to others.

  • Works effectively with people from a range of different backgrounds.

  • Able to act quickly and accurately to identify and analyse relevant information regarding work tasks.

  • Makes accurate use of logic and considers all relevant factors to make rational, realistic and sound decisions.
