NewDay are looking for a Senior Manager, Data Science to lead the development of predictive modelling solutions that power smarter decisions, better customer outcomes, and significant commercial impact.
Why this role mattersAs a senior leader in our Data Science team, you’ll lead the delivery of high‑impact modelling projects end‑to‑end — from early scoping with partner teams through to design, validation, governance, implementation, and ongoing performance monitoring. You’ll ensure our models are not only analytically excellent, but also robust, compliant, and production‑ready.
This role is central to how NewDay uses data to understand customers, manage risk, and innovate responsibly. You’ll set the bar for quality, shape the roadmap, and create an environment where data scientists can do their best work.
How you’ll contributeLead the full lifecycle of predictive modelling projects — scoping, planning, delivery, validation, sign‑off, and ongoing ownership
Ensure all solutions meet the highest standards of governance, regulatory compliance, and technical rigor
Act as a proactive owner of deployed models, providing timely updates, insights, and improvements
Make concrete technical management contributions towards gold-standard data science capabilities
Create a positive, supportive, and high‑performing team culture through people leadership and coaching
Degree‑level qualification in a highly analytical field (e.g., Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Quantitative Finance)
Demonstrated experience applying data science across areas such as product optimisation, personalisation, collections, fraud, or broader business optimisation
Strong end‑to‑end ownership of data science delivery, from problem definition to implementation
A hands‑on background as a data scientist or modeler, with the ability to dive deep into technical detail when needed
Practical experience with modern data science tools, open‑source technologies, version control, and collaborative development practices
Proven track record of shaping data science roadmaps, generating ideas, and building strong partnerships
Experience leading, and developing a team of data scientists or quantitative specialists
Experience with Agentic AI tools and practices (e.g., Claude Code, Kiro, Codex)
Knowledge of advanced data science techniques such as deep learning or numerical optimisation
Experience coordinating complex cross‑functional delivery, including close collaboration with MLOps teams
A track record of championing data science in emerging or previously unsupported business areas
Strong understanding of managing and evolving business‑critical, production data science solutions
