Are you ready to help shape how Data Science drives value across our entire customer credit journey? NewDay are looking for a Senior Manager, Data Science to lead the development of predictive modelling solutions that power smarter decisions, better customer outcomes, and significant commercial impact.

Why this role matters

As a senior leader in our Data Science team, you’ll lead the delivery of high‑impact modelling projects end‑to‑end — from early scoping with partner teams through to design, validation, governance, implementation, and ongoing performance monitoring. You’ll ensure our models are not only analytically excellent, but also robust, compliant, and production‑ready.

This role is central to how NewDay uses data to understand customers, manage risk, and innovate responsibly. You’ll set the bar for quality, shape the roadmap, and create an environment where data scientists can do their best work.

How you’ll contribute
  • Lead the full lifecycle of predictive modelling projects — scoping, planning, delivery, validation, sign‑off, and ongoing ownership

  • Ensure all solutions meet the highest standards of governance, regulatory compliance, and technical rigor

  • Act as a proactive owner of deployed models, providing timely updates, insights, and improvements

  • Make concrete technical management contributions towards gold-standard data science capabilities

  • Create a positive, supportive, and high‑performing team culture through people leadership and coaching

What you’ll bring
  • Degree‑level qualification in a highly analytical field (e.g., Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Quantitative Finance)

  • Demonstrated experience applying data science across areas such as product optimisation, personalisation, collections, fraud, or broader business optimisation

  • Strong end‑to‑end ownership of data science delivery, from problem definition to implementation

  • A hands‑on background as a data scientist or modeler, with the ability to dive deep into technical detail when needed

  • Practical experience with modern data science tools, open‑source technologies, version control, and collaborative development practices

  • Proven track record of shaping data science roadmaps, generating ideas, and building strong partnerships

  • Experience leading, and developing a team of data scientists or quantitative specialists

We’d love you to know (or be excited to learn)
  • Experience with Agentic AI tools and practices (e.g., Claude Code, Kiro, Codex)

  • Knowledge of advanced data science techniques such as deep learning or numerical optimisation

  • Experience coordinating complex cross‑functional delivery, including close collaboration with MLOps teams

  • A track record of championing data science in emerging or previously unsupported business areas

  • Strong understanding of managing and evolving business‑critical, production data science solutions
