Our global Marketing and Business Development (M&BD) team plays a central role in how Hogan Lovells Cadwalader goes to market. Working across practices, regions, clients and sectors, commercial strategy, business intelligence and sales, and systems and operations, we help drive growth, deepen client relationships, strengthen market profile, and deliver exceptional client experiences. We work seamlessly with our Corporate Communications colleagues across digital marketing, social media, creative and content, public relations, events, and brand to ensure a coordinated approach to engaging clients and the market.

Working Hours

35 hours per week, 9:30am to 5:30pm but additional hours may be required.  We are happy to consider agile and flexible working patterns. Our approach to hybrid working allows for up to 40% of time working from home and 60% working in the office, please contact a member of the recruitment team to discuss further.

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive Senior Manager to support our M&BD Sectors team. This role will work closely with Sectors leadership team to develop and deliver marketing and business development activity aligned with the firm’s strategy and the group’s commercial priorities.

The Senior Manager will support Sector M&BD Leadership, providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and portfolio management across the firm's sectors program. The role includes managing and mentoring sector team members while leading high-impact cross-sector initiatives, strategic events, and growth programs. Responsibilities include overseeing key market themes; driving cross-sector collaboration; streamlining processes and operating models; and ensuring effective execution of firmwide and sector priorities.

As a trusted advisor and leader, the Senior Manager translates strategy into action, enabling greater alignment, efficiency, innovation, and measurable business impact across the global sectors portfolio. Key Responsibilities

Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location or services. All members of the firm participate in our Responsible Business program.

  • Partner with sector and firm leadership to develop and execute business development strategies, launch new client initiatives, and drive sustainable growth cross-sector.

  • Lead, mentor, and support the development of a high-performing sectors M&BD team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.

  • Drive integrated sector campaigns, thought leadership and market-facing initiatives that raise the firm’s profile, support priority client conversations, and connect sector, practice and regional objectives.

  • Support the operations of the sector’s program, including lateral attorney integration, business development coaching, sector M&BD team meetings, support the continued integration efforts after the combination and cross-functional initiatives.

  • Support strategic client engagements and meetings by identifying growth opportunities, refining messaging, and developing tailored client strategies.

  • Provide strategic guidance and hands-on support to partners and the BD team in responding to high-impact pitches and RFPs by aligning client needs, competitive positioning, and differentiated firm value propositions.

  • Develop and use data-led insights, including client, pipeline, financial, market and competitor intelligence, to inform sector strategy, prioritise opportunities, and demonstrate return on investment.

  • Drive collaboration across sectors, practices, and regions by promoting best practices, knowledge sharing, and consistent operating standards.

  • Continuously evaluate and enhance processes, operating models, and ways of working to improve efficiency, scalability, and impact.

  • Contribute to broader M&BD priorities and strategic initiatives as directed by Sector M&BD Leadership.

Skills & Experience

  • Approximately 9 – 10+ years of relevant experience preferred, ideally in a legal or professional services industry with at least 18 – 24 months of management experience.

  • Excellent level of strategic and commercial awareness, with proactive mindset to help our lawyers spot and capitalise on opportunities.

  • Strong understanding of integrated marketing and business development targeting, including campaigns, events, thought leadership, client targeting and digital engagement.

  • Pragmatic, diplomatic, and resourceful, with the ability to adapt quickly to different situations and personalities.

  • Demonstrated people management capabilities.

  • Proven ability to motivate and coach business team members to support the firm’s M&BD goals.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy, excellent writing skills, and an exacting attention to detail in all work products.

  • Strong organisational skills and an ability to prioritise and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.

  • Experience of working independently as well as within cross-functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
