About your team:

At Centrica Energy, our mission is to move it.

We’re energy movers by nature. We’re a global renewable energy trading company which helps move energy from source to use – powering businesses, homes, and societies as they transition to a new sustainable energy future. If the idea of working to create a sustainable energy future also moves you, we may very well be the right place for you.

Location: This role is based at our Park House office in London and requires on‑site presence 3 days a week.

About your role:
We're looking for an experienced Senior LNG Engineer to join our LNG Technology team.

This is a hands-on senior engineering role where you'll lead the design and delivery of complex platform enhancements, drive technical improvements and help modernise the technology supporting our LNG trading business. You'll play a key role in improving platform resilience, maintainability and operational excellence while influencing future architecture and engineering standards.

Alongside delivering technical solutions, you'll provide senior-level support for complex production issues, mentor fellow engineers and work closely with business stakeholders to translate commercial requirements into scalable technology outcomes.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading the design and delivery of complex platform enhancements and technology improvements.

  • Driving engineering best practice across code quality, testing, supportability and platform resilience.

  • Owning technical solutions from design through to deployment and production support.

  • Supporting and resolving complex production incidents, carrying out root cause analysis and implementing long-term fixes.

  • Collaborating with Product, Business Analysis and Architecture teams to shape technical solutions and delivery approaches.

  • Contributing to platform strategy, technical debt reduction and future technology decisions.

  • Mentoring engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing and code reviews.

  • Helping improve automation, observability, deployment processes and DevOps maturity.

Here's what we’re looking for:

Essential

  • Proven hands-on experience developing enterprise applications using C#/.NET.

  • Expertise in designing and delivering APIs, integrations, distributed systems and cloud-native applications.

  • A solid understanding of software architecture, system design, scalability, resilience and security principles.

  • Experience working with cloud technologies such as AWS and/or Azure.

  • Well-developed SQL and data analysis skills, including troubleshooting, optimisation and production support.

  • Experience operating within modern DevOps environments, including CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices.

  • A track record of leading complex technical initiatives within business-critical technology environments.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Previous experience mentoring and supporting engineers to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Desirable

  • Experience within energy trading, LNG, commodities, ETRM/CTRM or related trading environments.

  • Experience with EOS, Endur or other energy trading platform technologies.

  • Knowledge of scheduling, logistics, settlements, valuation or cargo management systems.

  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor or similar technologies.
