As Senior Lead, Content Development, English Language Learning, you’ll be at the forefront of this change, leading a large global team to redefine how content is created, delivered, and monetized.

About the role 

At Pearson, we’re not just adapting to the future of education—we’re creating it. We’re helping our customers adopt digital and AI-powered content alongside traditional printed materials. This content ecosystem will be modular, adaptive, and dynamically responsive to learner engagement and proficiency. Your expertise will be pivotal in leading this evolution. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Define & Own the AI-Driven Content Strategy – Embed AI at the core of our content workflows, shifting from static courseware to adaptive, data-informed learning experiences. 
  • Drive Content Monetization & Business Growth – Unlock new revenue opportunities through strategic innovation, optimizing investments for maximum impact. 
  • Lead & Inspire a Global Team – Manage a world-class team of 150+ experts in learning design, AI-driven content development, and strategic partnerships. 
  • Transform the Way We Work – Drive a digital-first, AI-first cultural shift, ensuring our content remains a key competitive differentiator. 
  • Stay Ahead of Market Trends – Keep Pearson at the forefront of AI-enhanced learning solutions by anticipating competitive threats and emerging opportunities. 
About you 

This is a high-impact, high-visibility leadership position in a globally recognized FTSE 100 company. You will be instrumental in defining the next generation of learning experiences, shaping the AI-driven future of education, and positioning Pearson as the undisputed leader in AI-powered English language learning. 

To be successful in the role you will be/have: 

  • Visionary leadership – Track record of adopting new technology into content-driven businesses to accelerate delivery and efficiency, including using emerging AI-driven capabilities. 
  • AI & Adaptive Learning Expertise – Deep understanding of AI-driven content development, automation, and subscription-based business models. 
  • Strategic & Commercial Acumen – Ability to drive financial performance, optimize investment decisions, and scale content monetization. 
  • Experience Leading Large-Scale Teams – Strong background in leading globally distributed content teams and managing multimillion-pound budgets. 
  • EdTech Passion & Industry Knowledge – Strong grasp of competitive market forces, emerging trends, and opportunities in education technology would be advantageous.  Otherwise relatable industries such as media would be strongly considered. 
  • This role is responsible for leading this team, executing day-to-day operations, and ensuring alignment with broader business strategies. It is responsible for ensuring operational processes are executed effectively, alignment with ELL’s business unit goals, and developing talent within the team.
