As a Senior Lead Architect at JPMorgan Chase within Consumer Banking – Customer Authentication (Trust & Security), you are an integral part of a team that works to develop high-quality architecture solutions for various software applications on modern cloud-based technologies. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical architecture solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of project goals.
Job responsibilities
- Engages technical teams and business stakeholders to discuss and propose technical approaches to meet current and future needs for Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM), including customer authentication, authorization, and identity lifecycle capabilities
- Defines the technical target state of their product and drives achievement of the strategy for CIAM platforms and services, including secure customer login and authentication journeys across channels
- Participates in architecture governance bodies with a focus on CIAM architecture standards, security controls, and risk alignment
- Evaluates recommendations and provides feedback on new technologies relevant to CIAM (e.g., IAM protocols and standards such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML; CIAM platforms; identity proofing; risk-based authentication; and cloud-native identity services)
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems in CIAM, including authentication flows, token/session management, and integration patterns
- Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others for CIAM components and integrations, ensuring strong security, privacy, and compliance outcomes
- Leverages enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate architecture analysis and decisioning across the product family, with human-in-the-loop validation and appropriate handling of sensitive data.
- Establishes reuse-first AI-enabled engineering patterns and governance across SDLC/toolchain practices, ensuring traceability/auditability, resiliency, and security controls.
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems supporting CIAM and customer authentication workloads
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information related to CIAM solutions and identity/security tooling
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Obtain 10 plus years of experience in architecture, system design, and engineering delivery, including CIAM / Identity and Access Management solutions
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability for large-scale, customer-facing identity and authentication platforms
- Advanced in one or more programming language(s), practical cloud native experience supporting identity and authentication workloads
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods and all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.), with direct applicability to CIAM and customer authentication
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems, including security, privacy, and regulatory expectations impacting customer identity
- Ability to evaluate and integrate AI-enabled capabilities into enterprise-grade architectures while meeting resiliency, security, and auditability requirements.
- Demonstrated experience applying enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment in architecture and engineering workflows with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
- Advanced knowledge of one or more software, applications, and architecture disciplines, including CIAM architecture patterns and IAM protocols/standards (e.g., IAM protocols and standards such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML; CIAM platforms; identity proofing; risk-based authentication; and cloud-native identity services)
- Ability to evaluate current and emerging technologies to recommend the best solutions for the future state architecture of CIAM platforms and customer authentication capabilities
- Experience with CIAM platforms and tools (e.g., Okta, Auth0, ForgeRock)
- Experience supporting mobile channels and mobile application ecosystems; iOS experience is a plus
- Certifications in identity and access management or related fields (e.g., CISSP, CISM)
