We have a fabulous opportunity for a Senior IT Auditor to join our small and friendly Internal Audit team at DS Smith. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to be part of shaping the role and how the team interacts with the wider business, especially in the critical area of IT controls for SOX.
The Senior IT Auditor will work in a team environment providing detailed control assessments of IT applications and supporting infrastructure with a particular focus on US Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. You will be responsible for planning, leading, conducting, and documenting the more complex IT audit assignments and managing the IT SOX Program and execution.
Confident and technically astute, the successful candidate will communicate effectively with staff at all levels, from IT operators to senior IT and Finance leadership, to understand technology domains, identify potential risk areas, and help devise practical, value-added solutions. You will also mentor less experienced auditors and assist in running major integrated audits.
This role involves travel to sites across the Company, where you will be executing and reviewing IT SOX testing, presenting findings, drafting timely, well-written reports that recommend practical and value-added solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to build relationships, support co-sourcing efforts, and coordinate effectively with external auditors.

About you
- Demonstrable experience in an IT governance or assurance role, such as IT Audit or IT Risk Management
- Strong technical auditing skills with practical knowledge of control frameworks such as COBIT or NIST
- Deep experience with US Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and IT General Controls (GITC) testing across key technology domains (e.g., change management, logical access, disaster recovery)
- Understanding of large-scale integrated financial systems and enterprise platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and related IT infrastructure (Windows, UNIX, databases, networking)
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with an ability to spot trends and control deficiencies in IT processes
- An interest in travel and interacting with various levels of management (IT and Finance)
- Required Certification: Possession of a Certified Information Systems Auditor® (CISA®) designation
- CIA, CISSP, or other relevant certifications would be advantageous.
Location: This is a full-time role, split between home working and our Head Office in Paddington, London in non-audit weeks. This role would involve approx. 20% travel to other sites in the UK and abroad.
