We are looking for an experienced Indirect Senior Tax Manager to lead WeWork’s Indirect Tax (VAT/GST) compliance function across 20 countries. Based in the UK you will report to the Director, Indirect Taxes and will ensure that VAT/GST returns are made on time and that submissions are legally compliant with local tax laws.. You will be able to balance multiple priorities and will interact with various operating groups within the organization including finance, treasury and billing operations as well as commercial teams. The ideal candidate has managed large VAT/GST compliance portfolios, is a quick learner and able to manage complex issues in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities:
Manage the Indirect Tax compliance reporting function working across 20 countries in Europe, Asia and North America. You will be responsible for reviewing and approving VAT/GST returns produced by the internal Indirect Tax Reporting Team and third-party providers. Ensuring all filings, payments and refunds are made accurately and on time
Liaising with finance and shared services in respect of issues identified during the VAT/GST compliance process (e.g. incorrect invoice postings)
Ensure WeWork is up to date and in compliance with all e-reporting requirements such as the UK’s MTD, Spain’s SII and Poland’s SAF-T
Manage all VAT/GST tax audits/enquires raised by tax authorities to deadline
Support global consolidated audit and statutory questions as they arise
Support VAT account reconciliations
Assist with the tax configuration of WeWork’s ERP and billing system
Assist in driving continuous improvements in the Indirect Tax compliance process by improving systems and processes and driving the use of automation.
Assist with the preparation of data for voluntary disclosures, as required for responsible countries
Liaise with third party advisors, as required, who may assist in managing all or some of the above
Coach and mentor shared service centre employees to ensure they continue to develop and progress
Qualifications:
8+ years of experience in VAT/GST, in particular in-house VAT/GST compliance
Experience in VAT accounting and reconciliations
Expert in Microsoft Excel – very proficient in manipulating and analyzing data in excel
Strong communicator and collaborator
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Highly motivated and willing to take on multiple responsibilities at once
Able to work comfortably under pressure and meet tight deadlines
