Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Full-Stack Developer with deep expertise in PHP and the Laravel framework. The successful candidate will design, develop, and maintain high-quality applications and internal systems, working closely with Product, Architecture, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver new features, improve reliability, and ensure alignment with architectural standards. The role requires operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, managing parallel tasks and projects, and demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, and full ownership of deliverables.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services using PHP and Laravel, ensuring code quality, performance, and maintainability.
- Implement queues, background jobs, caching layers, and event-driven components (Redis, Horizon, SQS, etc.).
- Design and maintain RESTful APIs integrating with internal and external services.
- Write clean, testable code following SOLID principles, modern design patterns, and best practices.
- Develop responsive and user-friendly interfaces using Vue.js, React, or similar frameworks.
- Work closely with designers and product owners to implement UI/UX requirements.
- Ensure compatibility and performance across browsers and devices.
- Design, optimize, and maintain MySQL/PostgreSQL schemas for performance and scalability.
- Implement caching and storage solutions using Redis or similar technologies.
- Collaborate with DevOps on CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and environment stability.
- Monitor systems, investigate anomalies, and contribute to reliability improvements.
- Work alongside the Architecture team to align implementations with standards and long-term system vision.
- Participate in technical planning, code reviews, and architectural discussions.
- Support scalable system design and contribute to modernization initiatives.
- Develop automated tests using PHPUnit or Pest (unit, integration).
- Follow secure coding practices and have awareness of OWASP principles.
- Document systems, APIs, and workflows clearly for internal reference.
- Collaborate with QA teams to ensure high-quality feature delivery.
- Work flexibly across multiple projects in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Demonstrate ownership and accountability of features from concept to production.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of coding standards and development processes.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in PHP development, including 3+ years working with Laravel.
- Excellent command of the English language.
- Strong understanding of OOP, MVC architecture, and design patterns.
- Proven experience in building RESTful APIs and backend services using Laravel.
- Strong JavaScript skills, with experience in Vue.js, React, or similar frameworks.
- Solid understanding of relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and query optimisation.
- Experience with Git, code review practices, and branching strategies.
- Experience with Docker and familiarity with modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of queues, Redis caching, asynchronous processing, and API security.
- Experience writing automated tests (PHPUnit, Pest).
- Experience with microservices, distributed systems, or event-driven architectures will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, etc.) will be an advantage.
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) will be an advantage.
- Experience with Laravel admin frameworks (Filament, Nova) will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of logging and monitoring tools (Sentry, NewRelic, Datadog) will be an advantage.
- Programming experience in Node.js, Python, or Go will be an advantage.
- Advanced Vue.js expertise (state management, component architecture) will be an advantage.
