Senior Financial Analyst

A quick look at the role

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you’ll be at the heart of the commercial performance of our Southern Region, partnering closely with operational leaders to turn financial insight into action. From driving performance and supporting key decisions to delivering meaningful reporting and maintaining strong financial controls, you’ll have real influence in helping our sites perform at their best.

Your core responsibilities

  • Partner with senior leaders - provide commercial finance support and insight to Regional Finance Managers and the Southern Area Director, helping drive business performance.
  • Drive planning and investment - lead robust budgets, forecasts and investment appraisals, challenging assumptions, benchmarking opportunities and ensuring risks are understood and managed.
  • Turn data into insight - deliver timely management accounts, reporting, KPIs and variance analysis, highlighting key trends, opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with Operations - build strong relationships with Regional Fleet Engineers and Workshop Managers through regular site visits, using financial insight to identify and deliver performance improvements.
  • Challenge and improve performance - undertake operational benchmarking and regular performance reviews, working with teams to develop and deliver targeted improvement plans and strengthen commercial awareness.
  • Protect financial control - ensure robust financial controls, delegated authorities and balance sheet processes are maintained, working with Internal Audit to identify risks and ensure agreed actions are delivered.

Our essential requirements

  • Qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent).
  • Strong management accounting experience, ideally within a service, logistics, waste or operationally focused environment.
  • Commercially minded and confident working with operational teams, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence performance.
  • Advanced Excel and strong systems skills, with the ability to turn financial data into clear, actionable insight.
  • Analytical and proactive, with a strong eye for detail and the confidence to challenge assumptions and identify opportunities for improvement.
