The role
Working in the UK Marketing team, and as part of the global Content & Platforms group, this role reports to the Director of International Events. The candidate will lead the coordination and successful execution of events planned throughout the year. The role requires good communication, flexibility and a positive 'can do' attitude. The team
The Content & Platforms group is made up of four core pillars: content strategy, research amplification, portfolio marketing, and Morningstar's signature events. The team's mission is to increase brand relevance and differentiation for our mission, pillars, values and diverse set of commercial capabilities. This global team-consisting of marketers, event planners, and content strategists-acts as a centre of excellence, working closely with designers, writers, corporate communications professionals, digital strategists, behavioural scientists, and more, to support our demand generation marketing team and broader business. We are data-driven experimenters who work to deliver the right messages to the right people at the right time. The team works globally to maintain a consistent brand experience everywhere Morningstar serves investors.
Responsibilities

  • Leading the coordination and execution of a series of online and live events throughout the year, including: own-hosted conferences, regional adviser forums and roadshows; executive level forums; awards ceremonies; private dining; corporate hospitality; and administration of Morningstar's involvement in third-party conferences
  • Liaising with key stakeholders across the business to build event strategy, taking on event briefs, and designing events programmes to deliver against the company's objectives
  • Working with product team to identify event tactics to support successful product launches
  • Lead content planning, contributing speaker and topic ideas, and work collaboratively with our product, research and marketing teams to deliver strategically targeted agendas, optimising Morningstar's thought leadership
  • Coordinate with content panel to write agenda synopses and brief speakers on the focus of their session
  • Build an integrated marketing campaign around each event
  • Coordinate, manage and execute invitation process for events
  • Build and execute social media plans, gathering assets and writing copy for posts
  • Build project plans for cross-function collaboration with multiple teams and manage each teams' involvement in the projects
  • Maintain the events calendar
  • Ensure that contingencies are in place for keynote speakers, live events and other potential last-minute changes that will require you to trouble-shoot and adapt
  • Coordinate internal and external speakers and resources and maintain schedules to avoid conflicting dates
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders and provide them with clear, transparent communications around event progress
  • Collaborate with the brand team to ensure a consistently high-profile and high-quality association for the Morningstar brand, and where appropriate, work with Media team to ensure pre- and post-event media coverage of events
  • Meet and greet and general support on the day for live events, and manage the attendee experience for online events
  • Collect, analyse and report attendees' feedback and recommend changes to ensure continual improvement and quotes for future promotional activity
  • Events P&L management and reporting
  • Track event marketing qualified leads over to sales team, and subsequent conversion rates
  • Communicate and share best practices with other Morningstar offices
  • Adhere to all internal procedures and business requirements
  • Provide accurate and timely event reports
  • Build a solid network with key clients


Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years' relevant experience, with evidence of successful event planning, promotion and management is required, with investment industry or general financial services knowledge preferred
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proven ability leading events through the entire event life-cycle
  • Proven ability in successfully managing multiple events concurrently
  • Ability and willingness to plan and execute each event from the ground-up, using a hands-on approach
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal, with the ability to adjust communication style to suit audience. Must be professional dealing with senior stakeholders and able to build rapport in short timeframes
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office with the ability to quickly learn new systems (e.g. event management software, project management software, payment processing software, email marketing platform etc.).
  • Experience using event management software (e.g. Cvent or equivalent), email marketing systems (e.g. Eloqua or equivalent), webinar platforms (e.g. Zoom or equivalent), digital event platforms (e.g. Intrado, Cvent Attendee Hub), project management software (e.g. Asana) is preferred
  • Proven ability managing budgets and delivering large, complex events within budget
  • Ability to create, manage and adhere to project plans, ensuring project contributors have clear understanding of what is required, and that the project remains on track throughout entire event life cycle
  • Experience managing product launch events
  • Ability to solve problems creatively with available resources
  • Ability to juggle a heavy workload, often with conflicting timelines
  • Must remain calm under pressure
  • Be process-driven; ability to adapt existing/create new processes to enable efficient output without jeopardising quality
  • Organised and logical with ability to pay close attention to detail whilst maintaining consistent approach
  • Must be proactive and show initiative; as evidenced with previous experience
