As Marqeta’s Senior Director, Sales (Strategic), you will manage a team responsible for developing solutions for new and innovative financial products for our Global Strategic Partners.

Our Global Strategic Partnerships team collaborates with some of the world's most forward-thinking companies to provide cutting-edge Card Issuing and Processing solutions. These solutions empower customers to manage their finances, accumulate wealth, and foster economic stability. Marqeta is at the forefront of a revolution in payments as businesses shift towards offering innovative embedded financial solutions to their customers. We guide prospects and customers through the evolving payments landscape, suggesting innovative approaches, maximizing the value derived from money movement, and enhancing customer loyalty.

Marqeta partners closely with the most innovative companies globally to deliver Modern Card Issuing and Processing solutions that help customers manage their finances, build wealth and economic stability.  Marqeta is powering a transformation in payments as companies transition to providing innovative embedded financial solutions for their customers.  We advise prospects and customers on the shifting payments marketplace, potential ways to innovate in the space, derive increased value from the movement of money and increase customer loyalty. 

As the Senior Director, Sales (Strategic) at Marqeta, you will be entrusted with the leading one of our key global strategic accounts. Your role will involve close collaboration with various teams within Marqeta. You will be a trusted advisor, responsible for devising strategies to achieve your quarterly targets, expanding current programs, and launching new ones, all while fostering innovation and thought leadership.

NOTE: This is a hybrid role and requires employees to be based within 35 miles of our London office. You will be expected to work on-site two days a week, on Tuesday and Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on the other days.

The Impact You’ll Have

  • Lead a team focused on our key global strategic accounts.
  • Increase revenue and gross profit by managing existing business, identifying upselling opportunities, and expanding current and new programs to additional markets.
  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve revenue targets and drive growth.
  • Identify, engage, and build strong relationships with key decision-makers in enterprise organisations.
  • Foster relationships with key executives at prospects and partners to establish a trusted advisor position and to establish a sustainable pipeline of opportunities and drive revenue growth.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and alignment with key internal teams, including Solutions & Delivery, Product, Network, Sales Strategy and Operations, Banking Partnerships, and other key teams within our global organization to align on customer needs and ensure value creation and satisfaction.
  • Deliver quarterly sales plans, OKR’s, and develop joint business plans with key prospects and partners.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of Marqeta's solutions and effectively communicate value to clients.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts and pipeline management.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, competitor offerings, and customer pain points to refine sales strategies.
  • Build a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and high-performing sales team by influencing the team's GTM strategy, hiring, team structure, culture, and sales processes.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration and alignment with key partner teams, including Vetting, Delivery, GNSO, Sales Strategy and Operations, Banking Partnerships and other teams in sales globally.

Who You Are

  • 15+ years of Enterprise Technology experience in sales and account management within a payments organisation.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing teams and a measurable track record of developing a team of high performing AEs & AMs.
  • Experience selling and managing complex, multi-product technology platform solutions to Enterprise customers.
  • Industry expertise in Payments, Retail, Fintech and Banking, with an ability to influence in complex situations.
  • Proven experience in strategic account planning and execution for success. 
  • Track record of delivering YoY new bookings and successfully expanding in-year revenue.

Great To Have But Not Required

  • BNPL experience.
