We’re reinventing payments. In less than four years, Dojo disrupted the market to become the largest and most loved acquirer in the UK. Our payments infrastructure, purpose-built for in-person commerce, is game changing.

Now, over 150,000 customers across four countries choose to transact billions with us every year. But we’re just getting started.

Our people are the driving force behind our success. They are our greatest investment and our ultimate competitive advantage. We hire exceptional people and give them the autonomy, trust, and ownership to thrive. The results take care of themselves.

The role

Dojo is empowering the experience economy, and data sits at the very center of our ambition. As a Senior Economist, you'll identify the true causal impact of our actions, from pricing shifts to product launches. You're the person we turn to when causal questions get tough and clean data is scarce. This is a specialist, depth-first role where you'll protect research integrity, challenge tempting correlations, and ensure our strategic decisions stand up to scrutiny.

What you will do...

  • Lead complex workstreams: Partner with business leaders to shape domain strategy with data, directly influencing revenue, cost, and churn levers.
  • Set causal design standards: Define experimental and quasi-experimental standards, advising on advanced studies like synthetic controls and staggered rollouts.
  • Drive econometric best practice: Design advanced structural models for complex behavioral questions, reasoning from first principles where no playbook exists.
  • Architect metrics at scale: Write highly efficient, optimized SQL and Python to build robust metric trees.
  • Deliver executive-grade narratives: Translate complex statistical uncertainty and causal findings into clear, narrative-driven insights for leadership.
  • Guide safe AI adoption: Establish verification frameworks for AI-assisted analysis to catch theoretical reasoning errors.

What you will bring...

  • Deep econometrics: instrumental variables, RDD, DiD, panel/fixed-effects and time-series methods, with genuine command of the assumptions behind each.
  • Strong statistical and econometric theory: enough to reason from first principles when the textbook method doesn't fit.
  • A background in economics, econometrics or a quantitatively rigorous field is typical, though we assess capability over credentials.
  • Fluent statistical programming (Python and/or SQL and sound, correct code for sourcing and shaping data.
  • Intellectual honesty: you quantify uncertainty, state your assumptions, and won't sign off a claim that doesn't hold.
  • Clear communication of causal findings to non-technical stakeholders under pressure to simplify or overclaim.

Dojo home and away

We believe our best work happens when we collaborate in-person. These “together days” foster communication, drive innovation and spark our brightest ideas.

That's why we have an office-first culture. This means working from the office 4+ days per week.

With offices across Europe, we know a thing or two about staying dynamic. Need deep focus? Head to a quiet zone. Big ideas? Collaboration spaces have you covered. Just here for a catch-up? Our social hubs make it easy. Do work that counts, in spaces made for you.

Question: what’s curious, relentless, and customer obsessed?

If you’re keen to know the answer, you’re a third of the way to meeting our Dojo values.

If the following speak to you, let’s talk:

You’re curious. You have a real desire to learn and create.

You’re relentless. You keep going even when it’s easier not to.

You’re customer-obsessed. You know how important customers are to what you do.

Our drive to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion is closely linked to helping employees thrive and innovating for better customer experiences.

If you care about your work, you’re curious, and you think customer-first, you have a place at Dojo.
