Job Description
As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of designing and implementing sophisticated data ingestion processes using Python and various cutting-edge data processing frameworks. Your expertise will enable you to acquire data seamlessly from diverse source systems, including APIs, S3 buckets, and SFTP servers.
You'll leverage Infrastructure-as-Code (IAC) tools to provision AWS infrastructure efficiently, ensuring our data platform remains robust and scalable. With a keen eye for detail, you'll monitor the data platform, implementing observability mechanisms to ensure all processes run smoothly.
Collaboration is key, and you'll work closely with business analysts, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that all required data is ingested accurately and effectively. Your role will also involve creating comprehensive documentation of processes and design decisions, contributing to a culture of transparency and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
We are seeking a candidate with a solid track record in designing and implementing innovative data solutions. Your experience should include working with enterprise-level data lakes, ideally within media or technology companies, where you've honed your skills in managing complex data environments.
You should have demonstrated expertise in building robust data pipelines and orchestrating workflows in an enterprise setting, ensuring seamless data flow and integration across systems.
Additionally, proven experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (IAC) tools such as CDK or Terraform is essential. You'll be adept at deploying infrastructure and data processes within the AWS ecosystem, showcasing your ability to leverage technology to drive efficiency and scalability.
Key Skills
- Python for data ingestion and processing
- Pandas and AWS Wrangler
- Strong knowledge of AWS services, particularly: Athena, S3, Glue, Lambda, ECS/EC2.
- Excellent knowledge of SQL - DML & DDL
- Excellent understanding of unit testing for data processes
- Articulate communicator who enjoys inspiring collaboration within an organisation and between teams.
- Confident in managing personal workload on multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team
