Role Description

We’re growing our Health, Life Science & Research Science Cost Management team and are looking for an experienced MEP Project Cost Consultant to join us. You’ll work on a diverse range of projects, from major international programmes to high-impact specialist commissions, helping clients achieve the best value throughout the project lifecycle.

Using your expertise in cost management, estimating and commercial delivery, you’ll develop cost plans, undertake feasibility studies and benchmarking, support procurement and tender processes, and manage contracts and variations through construction and handover.

Working across the UK and Europe, with projects primarily in London, Oxford and Cambridge, you’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams from early design through to completion, while supporting junior colleagues and contributing to successful project outcomes.

Role Accountabilities

  • Provide MEP quantity surveying and commercial cost management services across health, life science, research and related sectors.
  • Prepare cost estimates, feasibility studies, benchmarking analyses and project cost plans.
  • Support procurement activities, tender evaluations and contractor proposal reviews.
  • Manage contract variations and maintain cost control throughout construction and handover.
  • Advise on value engineering and whole-life costing where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with design, engineering and project teams to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Support and mentor junior team members.

Qualifications & Experience

  • MRICS/ARICS Quantity Surveyor status, or equivalent commercial or quantity surveying qualification.
  • Strong MEP commercial experience within medium to large construction projects.
  • Excellent cost estimating skills, with knowledge of rates, benchmarking and cost databases.
  • Ability to manage projects from inception to completion and build strong client relationships.
  • Experience using digital cost management tools such as CostX and 5D BIM.
  • Experience within life sciences, research or healthcare sectors would be beneficial but is not essential.
