Senior Cost ConsultantPosition SummaryThe Senior Cost Consultant provides expert commercial and cost management leadership across a portfolio of projects within a client site, campus, or facilities environment. Acting as a trusted adviser, the role supports clients by ensuring cost certainty, value optimisation, and robust financial governance throughout the project lifecycle.Working closely with Project Management, Account Leadership, Building/Facility Management teams, consultants, and contractors, the Senior Cost Consultant is responsible for managing budgets, reporting, procurement, and cost risk, particularly across tenant improvement and refurbishment projects.Key ResponsibilitiesCost Management & Financial Control
  • Develop, manage, and maintain detailed project budgets, cost plans, cash flows, and forecasts across all project phases.
  • Monitor and control project costs, proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.
  • Review and assess requisitions, valuations, change orders, and final accounts, advising clients on cost impact and commercial risk.
  • Ensure cost certainty and financial transparency in line with agreed project objectives and client expectations.
Project Delivery Support
  • Prepare and coordinate cost reports, drawing reviews, and financial summaries at feasibility, concept, design development, and construction stages.
  • Support the procurement, appointment, and commercial management of consultants and contractors.
  • Work collaboratively with Project Managers to ensure alignment between cost, programme, and scope.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as a key point of contact for cost-related matters with clients, owners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Keep building and facility management teams fully informed of project progress and financial status.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients and project teams to support repeat business and long-term partnerships.
Leadership & Team Contribution
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and oversight to junior cost consultants and project team members.
  • Contribute to a culture of high performance, professional excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Support service delivery improvements and best practice across the Cost Consultancy function.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with corporate procedures, client requirements, and statutory regulations, including building codes and safety standards.
  • Escalate significant risks, issues, and variances with clear recommendations.
  • Maintain high standards of professional conduct, quality assurance, and documentation.
Business Support
  • Assist with marketing and promotion of Cost Consultancy services as required.
  • Contribute to fee proposals, bids, and client presentations when requested.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline (required).
