Purpose of Role

To help build Grosvenor’s reputation for lasting commercial, social and environmental benefit - delivering clear, impactful communications that reach and influence our target audiences while reflecting positively on the wider public.

Working closely with the Communications & Corporate Affairs Director this role primarily focuses on corporate communications for Grosvenor’s UK property business (GPUK), helping to build its reputation for outstanding property and places, exceptional standards and innovation and a progressive approach that inspires community success and environmental leadership in tackling the impact of the built environment on climate change.

The role contributes to Group-wide communication initiatives, and the development of a cohesive UK reputation strategy, requiring alignment and co-ordination with other UK-focused Grosvenor activities.

The role is part of the Communications & Corporate Affairs team which supports all parts of Grosvenor achieve business and reputational objectives through communications strategies and related tactics, deployed through external and internal communications, public affairs, brand and digital channels management, design and corporate events.

Key Responsibilities

Play a leading role in the development and advancement of GPUK’s reputation through its public positioning, narratives and messaging, translating business objectives into supporting communications objectives, devising effective communications strategies and thoughtful and creative tactics to reach and influence key audiences

  • Providing fresh perspectives and constructive challenge to the way we build and manage the reputation of GPUK and the wider Grosvenor business as required.

  • Manage projects with appointed agencies, ensuring the quality, consistency and relevance of all external communications.

  • Measure the effectiveness of communications activity, reporting to internal stakeholders on outcomes and applying learnings.

  • Line manage one Communications Executive, providing guidance, teaching, and constructive feedback to nurture their development while adopting a similar supporting role with all junior team members.

Lead the delivery of media relations and social and digital communications for GPUK

  • Working with colleagues across the UK Property business, provide expert advice to develop strategies and messaging, executing communications tactics that successfully reach our key audiences (e.g., achieving media coverage, growing social media engagement etc.) through a multi-channel communications approach (deployed as relevant).

  • Support the Communications & Corporate Affairs Director in providing advice and support to the CEO and GPUK Executive team when they talk to the media, facilitating preparation/training for media interviews (and for external speeches) as appropriate.

  • Contribute to Grosvenor’s public affairs and influencer engagement activity as required. As part of this role, help manage relationships with relevant membership organisations, maximising value.

  • Supporting with the media management of any reputational issues and crises.

  • Working out of hours in response to media enquiries when necessary.

Help create and deliver existing, and potentially new, targeted campaigns that support business strategy and positioning

  • Focus on developing and executing GPUK’s environmental communication campaigns, enabling us to play a leadership role in the property sector and deliver on our green goals for 2030. 

  • Collaborate with the Head of Community Engagement to take forward advocacy campaigns that position Grosvenor at the cutting edge of sustainably supporting community success.

  • Working with our in-house Research team (where relevant) facilitate the demonstration of our expertise and insights through the articulation of opinion and the development of thought leadership, placed in key media, digital channels and through other opportunities (e.g. public affairs activity, speaking engagements, etc.) 

  • Collaborate with the Internal Communications Team to ensure every major corporate campaign is accompanied by effective employee engagement

The role also contributes to the development and delivery of projects and corporate communications activity for the wider Grosvenor organisation as required - identifying and exploiting synergies, opportunities and efficiencies.

Key Requirements

  • Demonstrable expertise in corporate communications, including media relations, social and digital media

  • Demonstrable awareness of the property sector and relevant political and environmental debates

  • The ability to translate business objectives into supporting communications objectives, devising effective communications strategies/campaigns and thoughtful and creative tactics to reach and influence key audiences

  • A track record of working with and advising senior executives, offering strategic advice and sound judgement.

  • Experienced in the handling of reputational issues and crisis communications.

  • Demonstrable interest in politics and the legislative process, particularly at a local level

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively, flexibly and to negotiate positive solutions to enable progress while building trusting relationships based on mutual respect

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills and the ability to adapt communications for audiences of different seniority and technical understanding

  • Proficient with all Microsoft applications.
