As a Senior Contract Manager at Hitachi, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire contract lifecycle, from negotiation and drafting to execution and close-out, ensuring compliance with legal and company policies for complex projects and strategic initiatives.
How you'll make an impact:

  • Lead the negotiation, drafting, review, and administration of a wide range of contracts, including sales, procurement, partnership, and service agreements, with a focus on high-value and strategic projects.

  • Develop and implement contract management strategies to mitigate risks, optimize commercial terms, and ensure adherence to company objectives.

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to internal stakeholders (e.g., sales, legal, project management, finance) on contractual matters, obligations, and interpretation.

  • Oversee and manage contract compliance throughout the project lifecycle, identifying and addressing potential breaches or disputes proactively.

  • Collaborate with legal counsel to develop and refine contract templates, policies, and procedures.

  • Manage contract amendments, renewals, and terminations, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.

  • Conduct regular contract performance reviews and provide reporting to senior management on contract status, risks, and opportunities.

  • Act as a primary point of contact for external parties regarding contractual issues.

  • Train and mentor junior contract managers and other staff on contract best practices.

  • Stay abreast of relevant legal and regulatory changes impacting contractual agreements.

Background:

  • Legal qualification and contract law expertise, such as a Law Degree (LLB), Solicitor qualification, or equivalent legal/commercial credentials, with a strong understanding of commercial, procurement, and contract law.

  • Proven experience managing the full contract lifecycle, including negotiation, drafting, review, execution, amendments, renewals, and termination of complex commercial contracts.

  • Strong commercial and contractual negotiation skills, with the ability to secure favourable terms while balancing business objectives and risk exposure.

  • Expert knowledge of contract risk management and compliance, including identifying, mitigating, and resolving contractual issues, disputes, and potential breaches.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to provide trusted contractual guidance to senior leaders, legal teams, project managers, finance, procurement, and sales functions.

  • Experience developing and implementing contract governance frameworks, including contract templates, policies, procedures, performance monitoring, and reporting.

  • Leadership capability, with experience mentoring junior contract professionals and driving contract management best practices across the organisation.
