Job Description:

At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we've tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it's supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we're not just here to move money— we're here to move our global customers forward.
We're looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career—we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.

About the Role:

Remitly is looking for a Senior Compliance Program Manager – Global Expansion to serve as the central programme manager for Compliance's participation in our global expansion strategy. You will bring structure to complex regulatory initiatives, planning, governing and delivering the Compliance workstreams that underpin licensing applications, regulatory approvals and market readiness.

You will report functionally to the Senior Manager, Compliance Governance & Program Management, with a dotted line to the Director of Compliance EMEA, and partner closely with our Expansion team, Legal, Product, Risk, Operations, Engineering and regional Compliance teams.

This role does not own the overall expansion programme. It owns making sure Compliance delivers its obligations efficiently, through strong programme management, governance and operational excellence, building the scalable frameworks that let Compliance keep pace as Remitly grows internationally. This is a hybrid role (3 days a week onsite) based in our London office.

You Will:

  • Lead programme management for Compliance workstreams supporting global expansion, developing integrated plans aligned to enterprise expansion milestones.
  • Manage timelines, dependencies, risks and resource planning across multiple concurrent expansion initiatives, coordinating across Financial Crime, Regulatory Compliance, Licensing, Governance and Risk.
  • Track Compliance deliverables and prepare executive reporting, dashboards and programme updates for Compliance leadership.
  • Coordinate Compliance activities supporting payment institution, electronic money institution and other licensing applications globally — partnering with Legal, Licensing and regional Compliance teams to deliver high-quality, timely regulatory submissions.
  • Monitor licensing commitments and post-approval implementation, and coordinate Compliance responses to regulator information requests during licensing and supervisory engagements.
  • Keep licensing documentation, evidence and governance artefacts complete, consistent and audit-ready.
  • Build and continuously enhance the governance frameworks, programme management standards, templates and reporting practices behind Compliance's expansion activities, including RAID logs and action trackers.
  • Facilitate Compliance governance forums, steering committees and working groups supporting expansion initiatives.
  • Act as the primary programme management partner between Compliance and the Expansion team, translating regulatory and licensing requirements into structured implementation plans and escalating delivery risks, dependencies and resource constraints.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and automate delivery, establishing repeatable operating models and metrics that scale across future expansion programmes.
  • Support strategic planning for future market expansion and contribute to broader Compliance transformation and operating model improvements.

You Have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Law, Project Management or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years leading complex cross-functional programmes within financial services, fintech or another highly regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated experience managing Compliance, regulatory implementation or licensing programmes, including payment institution, electronic money institution or equivalent licensing activities.
  • A strong understanding of compliance governance, regulatory change management and operational delivery within financial services.
  • Experience building programme governance frameworks, PMO capabilities and scalable operating models across global, cross-functional organisations.
  • Exceptional programme management and organisational skills, with the ability to run multiple strategic initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a track record of translating regulatory requirements into executable programmes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including executive and Board-level reporting.
  • Proficiency with Jira, Confluence or similar programme management tools.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and a collaborative, accountable approach to building trusted cross-functional relationships.
  • Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile or equivalent) preferred.

Our Benefits:

  • Paid Vacation Days
  • Health insurance
  • Commuter benefit
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
  • Mental Health & Family Forming Benefits
  • Continuing education
