Senior Communications Specialist (Europe)


We have an opportunity for a Senior Communications Specialist (Europe) to join our team at Honeywell, in Bracknell, as part of our growth journey to become a best-in-class, pure-play automation technology company. This position is focused on telling our brand story to internal and external audiences in the U.K. and across the Europe region. It will report into the Senior Director of Communications for Latin America and EMEA.


You will play a critical role in the development and execution of an enterprise aligned integrated communications program that builds awareness, deepens understanding, and inspires action across all internal and external stakeholders. 


This is a hands on, sole contributor role suitable for a seasoned comms professional with preferably at least 8-10 years’ in-house experience at a large, matrixed B2B organization. They will bring outstanding English written communications skills, along with a proven ability to operate effectively in a dynamic environment, with rapidly shifting priorities and some level of ambiguity. 


Deep experience in B2B media relations is a must, with proven ability to convert complex technologies and issues into impactful stories that engage and inspire. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the political, economic, and technological shifts taking place in the U.K. and across Europe, and be skilled in mapping industry stories to broader trends, leveraging their contact book of industry, business and economic media to help tell our growth story externally. 


The successful candidate will be well versed in internal communications programs, proficient in internal comms tools including Poppulo and VivaEngage to connect with and engage geographically disperse employee groups, and be comfortable working tactically as well as strategically – both independently and as part of a broader team. 


This is a hybrid role, 3 days at the office + 2 days work from home model, with 10-15% travel in Europe.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver an integrated internal and external communications strategy aligned with regional business priorities and Honeywell’s transformation into a leading automation company.
  • Build media programs tied to business strategy, industry trends and performance goals, while supporting executive positioning for the Regional President and other senior leaders in the region.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key journalists, manage media enquiries, and secure high‑impact coverage.
  • Create and implement innovative tactics to engage employees and support major organisational changes through effective communication plans.
  • Oversee content development for press materials, messaging documents and media briefings, while coordinating budgets, vendors, events and project teams.
  • Partner with business, functional and government relations teams on issues and crisis management, and champion the use of AI within communications.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success in change communications, executive positioning, and delivering measurable results within large, complex international organisations.
  • Strong UK and European media relationships with a proven ability to pitch stories, manage enquiries, and communicate clearly and promptly with external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional writing skills (AP style), strategic thinking, and the ability to provide effective communications counsel while managing multiple projects in a fast‑moving, matrixed environment.
  • Proactive issue‑spotting and resolution skills, combined with strong business acumen, influencing ability, and effective cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Deep understanding of social media and internal engagement platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Viva Engage), with the ability to leverage them to drive employee engagement.
