Bionic is the UK’s leading business switching service, supporting more than 230,000 SME customers to save time, hassle and money when sorting their utilities, connectivity, insurance and funding.

The role

This is a high-impact commercial leadership role at the heart of Bionic’s Business Finance vertical. As Senior Commercial Manager, Finance, you’ll own commercial performance, planning and delivery against growth, profitability and customer outcome targets.

You’ll use data, customer insight, and market intelligence to understand what driving performance is, identify the biggest opportunities and turn insight into clear commercial action. From shaping acquisition strategy and partner economics to improving conversion, revenue and profitability, your work will directly influence the P&L.

Working across Sales, Marketing, Product, Technology, Data, Finance and Operations, you’ll bring teams together behind the priorities that matter most. You’ll also lead and develop a Business Analyst, creating a high-performance environment focused on insight, execution, and measurable impact.

This role is ideal for a commercially ambitious leader who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands-on delivery in a fast-paced, performance-led business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own commercial performance - Take accountability for the Business Finance vertical growth, profitability, customer outcomes and performance targets.
  • Lead business planning - Drive annual, quarterly, monthly and weekly planning cycles, including budgets, forecasts, target setting and trading updates for senior and C-suite stakeholders.
  • Optimise acquisition economics - Make commercial decisions across internal and partner acquisition channels to improve profitability, payback and return on investment, while evaluating new partnership opportunities.
  • Manage strategic partners - Own day-to-day relationships with lead generation partners, build constructive partnerships and ensure monthly billing accurately reflects delivered performance.
  • Turn insight into growth - Identify, prioritise and deliver initiatives that improve acquisition, conversion, revenue, profitability and customer experience.
  • Shape sales performance - Design and govern sales commission schemes and lead allocation rules that balance revenue, conversion and good customer outcomes.
  • Drive cross-functional delivery - Coordinate Sales, Marketing, Lead Generation, Product, Data, Technology, Finance and Operations to deliver roadmap priorities with clarity and pace.
  • Influence senior decisions - Present performance, forecasts, risks, opportunities and recommendations to the Finance Leadership Team and Board.
  • Lead and develop talent - Manage and develop a Business Analyst, building a culture centred on high-quality insight, strong execution and measurable commercial impact.
  • Support strategic growth - Partner with the Senior Leadership Team on strategic and operational lender projects that support revenue and EBITDA targets.

About you

You are commercially sharp, highly analytical, and comfortable taking ownership in a changing, fast-paced environment. You can move confidently from detailed performance analysis to a clear recommendation for senior leaders, then bring cross-functional teams together to deliver it.

You balance growth, profitability, and customer outcomes rather than treating them as competing priorities. You are naturally curious about what drives performance, prepared to challenge assumptions and focused on creating practical momentum.

What Makes You Successful

  • Commercially focused - You understand the levers behind growth, revenue, profitability and customer outcomes, and know how to prioritise for long-term value.
  • Insight-led - You can diagnose performance drivers, challenge assumptions, and convert complex data into focused commercial action.
  • Influential communicator - You present forecasts, risks, opportunities and recommendations clearly, building confidence with Executive and Board-level stakeholders.
  • Cross-functional operator - You create alignment across multiple teams, establish clear accountability and maintain momentum through delivery.
  • Accountable leader - You work autonomously, take ownership for outcomes and set high standards for yourself and others.
  • Customer and impact minded - You focus on improvements that strengthen customer outcomes, colleague effectiveness and measurable business performance.

Required skills

  • Strong understanding of commercial KPIs, budgeting, forecasting, trading performance, and performance reporting.
  • Experience analysing unit economics, channel profitability, payback and return on investment.
  • Ability to build compelling business cases for initiatives or investment and communicate them succinctly to senior leaders.
  • Advanced Excel capability and confidence drawing actionable insight from performance data.
  • Understanding performance marketing, lead generation, web conversion funnels and sales performance optimisation.

Required Experience

  • Solid commercial experience, ideally within financial services or another fast-paced, performance-led environment.
  • A proven track record of improving commercial performance across growth, revenue, profitability or customer outcomes.
  • Strong commercial and analytical capability, with evidence of turning insight into action.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and supporting decisions at Executive or Board level.
  • Experience leading cross-functional delivery across Sales, Marketing, Product, Technology, Data, Finance, Operations or Commercial teams.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to operate autonomously while managing competing priorities.
  • Experience in SME lending, credit broking or financial services is desirable.
  • Experience managing or developing analysts or other performance-focused team members is desirable.
  • Project or programme management experience within commercial transformation, growth or continuous improvement is desirable.
