As a Senior Clinical Physiologist at Cromwell Hospital, you’ll play a key role within our expanding Respiratory Department in the Clinical Investigation Centre. You’ll support the daily running of our Lung Centre, uphold exceptional clinical standards, and ensure safe, efficient service delivery for patients of all ages.
This role is perfect for someone proactive, detail‑driven, and committed to excellence in both technical and non‑technical aspects of respiratory diagnostics.
How you'll make health happen
Perform a wide range of respiratory and sleep diagnostic procedures for adult and paediatric patients, including:
- Spirometry
- Full Lung Function Testing
- Reversibility Studies
- Skin Prick Allergy Testing
- Capillary Blood Gases (ear sampling)
- 6-Minute Walk Tests (6MWT)
- Respiratory Muscle Strength Assessment
- Bronchial Provocation Studies (Mannitol & Methacholine)
- Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET)
- Exercise-Induced Bronchial Provocation
- Hyperventilation & Dysfunctional Breathing Assessment (HPVT)
- Fitness-to-Fly Assessments (HCT)
- Respiratory Polygraphy (set-up, analysis, reporting) – desirable
- CPAP/NIV initiation, support and troubleshooting – desirable
Support the service manager in the day‑to‑day operations of the Lung Centre.
Champion quality and ensure compliance with all laboratory routines under the Quality Assurance plan.
Work independently on complex respiratory diagnostic tests with confidence and accuracy.
Engage proactively with consultants, clinicians, and other stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
Contribute to continuous improvement and growth of the Respiratory Department.
Key Skills/ Qualifications
- BSc in Clinical Physiology / Healthcare Science (or equivalent).
- Competence in a broad range of conventional lung function testing.
- Ability to work autonomously within a respiratory diagnostic environment.
- Strong technical and operational understanding of lung laboratory processes.
- Current ILS certification; ARTP or HCCP membership desirable.
- Proactive, analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
- Experience working with patients across all age groups.
