Mission
Neko is redefining what prevention means, from treating illness when it arrives, to sustaining health before it's ever at risk. Our mission: make data-driven, preventative care accessible to more people, before symptoms appear.
In a single, non-invasive visit under an hour, proprietary technology and direct clinical care combine to deliver personalised, actionable insights. It's a team that thinks in 10x, not 10%. Every role here plays a part in building a world where prevention is the norm, and where your work genuinely helps people live longer, healthier lives.
Role Purpose
Our laboratories sit inside our London clinics, where patients come for whole-body preventive health screenings. They are modern, fast-paced environments, with the service continuously evolving as we grow.
As Senior Biomedical Scientist, you hold senior professional responsibility for the performance of our laboratory service, ensuring every patient result is accurate, clinically appropriate, and delivered within 30 minutes.
This is an autonomous role with end-to-end ownership of our biochemistry and haematology service across two of our clinic-based laboratories. You will combine deep technical and clinical expertise, quality leadership, and remote supervisory responsibility.
The scope of this role is growing fast. You won't just be running our existing labs - you'll help us scale, setting up new laboratories across London and other cities in the UK.
This is a hybrid role, with one day a week on-site at one of our London clinics and the remainder worked remotely. You will also take part in an on-call rota, together with the wider team.
If you're a Senior BMS looking for a fast-paced, innovation-led role, we would love to hear from you.
What You'll Deliver in the First 6 - 12 Months
Monitor our Abbott Alinity and Sysmex XN-550 analysers remotely, troubleshoot flags and errors, and escalate complex technical issues.
Lead assay, analyser, and service verification and validation activities.
Train, supervise, and mentor Biomedical Scientists.
Own quality outputs across the service: write, review, and implement standard procedures; review and monitor IQC and EQA; manage incidents and non-conformances; and contribute to document control and the audit schedule.
Run daily operations across sites: monitor turnaround times and KPIs, support service continuity, and manage reagent and consumables stock and purchasing.
Liaise with the clinical team, engineers, and external providers, and attend site for critical incidents, audits, training, or operational support when required.
Occasionally step in hands-on to support the Biomedical Scientist team reporting to you: validate and authorise patient results in line with SOPs and clinical governance, authorise daily calibration and IQC, and escalate abnormal or critical findings.
Minimum Requirements
HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist, with evidence of ongoing CPD.
Minimum 5 years of post-registration experience in biochemistry, with advanced knowledge of automated analysers, IQC and EQA interpretation, and complex investigations.
Hands-on experience operating Abbott Alinity analysers.
Strong working knowledge of ISO 15189 and UKAS standards, with experience in audit, SOP management, and non-conformance handling.
Experience supervising, training, and mentoring staff.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with confidence troubleshooting technical issues, validating complex results, and resolving operational challenges.
Track record of delivering accurate results against tight turnaround targets.
Preferred
Hands-on experience operating Sysmex XN-550.
