Job Description

At Legal & General, we're looking for a commercially minded quantitative analyst to join our specialist private mortgage investments team. This is an exciting opportunity to work across an £8bn mortgage portfolio while helping assess and structure new investment opportunities that support long-term customer outcomes.

You'll combine technical modelling expertise with commercial judgement, working across mortgage-backed investments, securitisation structures and consumer-credit assets. Whether analysing existing transactions or evaluating new opportunities, you'll play an important role in helping shape investment decisions

What you’ll be doing:

  • Structuring and executing private securitisation transactions, including asset cashflow, capital structure and investor return analysis
  • Managing periodic note issuances from private securitisation programmes, including cashflow analysis and engagement with rating agencies
  • Assessing new mortgage and consumer-credit investment opportunities across a range of lending assets
  • Analysing rating, structural, capital and profitability impacts on prospective and existing transactions
  • Supporting the design, execution and ongoing management of securitisation and funding structures
  • Producing scenario analysis, transaction modelling and investment recommendations to support decision-making
  • Collaborating with portfolio management, risk, finance, legal and governance teams across the investment lifecycle
  • Contributing to covered bond, RMBS and wider structured finance initiatives, helping shape future funding and investment strategies

Who we’re looking for:

  • Experience in quantitative analysis, structuring, securitisation or structured finance
  • Strong cashflow modelling and financial analysis skills
  • Understanding of residential mortgages, consumer credit, asset-backed lending or securitised products
  • Ability to interpret complex modelling outputs and translate findings into commercial recommendations
  • Experience gained within an insurer, bank, asset manager, rating agency or similar environment
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new asset classes, funding structures and investment products
  • Experience of covered bonds strongly preferred
  • VBA, Python or R skills would be beneficial

Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance -related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
  • Generous pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Healthcare Plan (permanent employees only)
  • At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years’ service. There’s also the option to buy and sell holiday
  • Competitive family leave
  • Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice (permanent employees only)
  • There are many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
  • We’re creating net‑zero carbon workplaces by 2030 by investing in our sustainable, modern offices across the UK, all designed to bring people together and elevate the in‑person experience

Additional Information

At L&G, we believe it's possible to generate positive returns today while helping to build a better future for all.

Guided by leaders with integrity who care about your future and wellbeing. Empowered through initiatives which support people to develop their careers and excel.

We care passionately about outcomes rather than attendance and are therefore open to discussing all kinds of flexible working options including part-time and job shares. Although some roles have limited flexibility due to customer demand, we accommodate requests when we can.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t meet every single criterion in this advert. Instead, think about what you excel at and what else you can bring in terms of strengths, potential and connection to our purpose.
