Purpose of Position:
The Private Equity (PE) world relies heavily on the management of transactions within funds. These transactions can often be complicated, especially in treatment. In addition, Pantheon’s strategic direction has put a greater importance on the management of “non-PE” investment structures and transactions. Therefore, the setup of new deals and their corresponding transaction bookings are becoming more complex and bespoke. The incumbent will be responsible for managing the team responsible for all investor and investment setups and transaction processing.
Pantheon Operations is going through significant change to enable the support of more complex, unusual and time sensitive activity. The incumbent will work with the Transaction Management manager to improve team process and staff towards the strategic target operating model.
Key Responsibilities:
- Day to day management for some of the Transaction Management team and processes. Meeting daily targets in a controlled and efficient model.
- Develop personal technical skills in respect of the Private Equity industry and Pantheon process. Develop personal technical skills to become “subject matter expert” and develop the team’s knowledge and understanding.
- Managing the objectives & development of a team of est. 6 staff. Support the team through changes being implemented. Implement training plan and maintain training matrix.
- Enable the team to develop and enhance daily processing of all transactions and setups. Project manage changes being implemented & provide reporting as required.
- Active day-to-day management of the company’s main Vendor. Pantheon lead for weekly joint service meetings. Analysis on vendor metrics & delivery of information to head of department.
- Monitoring team objectives and deliverables to drive consistent improvement.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
- Experienced Operations manager with a track record in managing people, process & controls.
- Demonstrate experience as a leader of people.
- Demonstrate experience in implementing process change.
- The ability to lay out processes, controls & procedures in simple, clear formats including data flows, controls matrices, etc.
- Very good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience of working in a busy team, working to tight deadlines & an understanding of the importance of metrics to manage operations.
- Ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
- Excellent attention to detail and experience of overseeing large-scale datasets in order to attain high levels of accuracy.
- Demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and the desire to understand why a process exists, not just how to complete it.
- Operations / Middle Office Management experience a requirement.
- Experience in transaction processing.
- Experience of onboarding new clients and investment vehicles.
- Experience in Private Equity a benefit but not essential.
- Experience in payment & securities processing a benefit but not essential.
- Familiarity with online banking/payments processing is preferred but not required.
