The Global Strategy and Engagement Team helps set, advise and deliver on the FCA’s strategic engagement with non-European authorities and jurisdictions. We are recruiting for a Senior Associate in the team covering Asia-Pacific, a fast-growing and dynamic region and priority area for the FCA. You will contribute to our strategy for the region, build a network with regional stakeholder and provide analysis of regional developments for stakeholders within the FCA.
The role will cover a wide range of topics, with a focus on FinTech, asset management, investment banking, sustainable finance, international data flows, and financial crime.
What will you be doing?
The successful candidate will support the work of the team and International Division in several ways, including:

Helping shape and prioritise the FCA’s engagement with authorities in the Asia-Pacific Region, where we focus on China, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia

Building and maintaining key relationships with counterparts from embassies, relevant regulators and other key stakeholders
-
Developing and delivering creative strategy and engagement plans for priority jurisdictions, working closely with colleagues across the FCA to ensure a coordinated and considered approach; advising and supporting FCA Executive Directors and the Senior Leadership Team in their engagements with key international partners, including during overseas visits

Working closely with HMT and the Bank of England to support joint engagements, such as CEO-level Economic and Financial Dialogues and bilateral Financial Regulatory Forums

Analysing key policy and political developments in jurisdictions and providing advice on the opportunities and challenges arising for the FCA.

Managing the FCA’s day-to-day engagement with overseas regulators, including handling supervisory and assistance requests, and ensuring appropriate information sharing agreements are in place

Be responsible for overseeing a wide range of relationships with regulatory authorities within the Asia-Pacific region

Work across multiple policy areas and challenges, with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring we take account of international examples and evidence in our decision-making

Minimum
-
Prior experience of policy development, supervision or enforcement in financial services
-
Prior experience of advising and influencing internal and external stakeholders
-
Prior experience analysing complex information at pace and make judgements supported by evidence
Essential

Ability to identify and assist and support stakeholders, building rapport and constructive relationships

Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain complex issues succinctly and compellingly, adapted to the audience

Pro-active attitude and ability for independent problem-solving

inclusive and collaborative working method, with ability to draw on range of expertise across the wider organisation to deliver

Excellent self-management and organisational skills, delivering multiple tasks under pressure

Strong political awareness and curiosity regarding regulatory systems and actors in the Asia-Pacific regions

Clear understanding of the FCA’s functions and objectives within the UK financial regulatory framework and our approach to supervision and enforcement

Expertise in key policy area relevant to either the Asia-Pacific region, such as FinTech, Sustainable Finance, wholesale or asset management is welcome
