The Senior Applied Data Scientist of the WE Commercial Analytics & Insights team at the LEGO Group assumes a key role in driving actionable insights and build our commercial strategy with applied data science. The Incumbent will deliver high-impact solutions and shape commercial decisions with data-driven insights.
This position will assume a key role in contributing to shaping and evolving the team's capabilities in line with the LEGO Group's vision for data science and global commercial success.

Core Responsibilities- Deliver end-to-end data science projects, from framing the business problem and developing models to delivering actionable solutions that create measurable business value.
- Analyse complex datasets on products, channels, customers, and markets using machine learning, statistical modelling, and advanced data wrangling techniques to uncover opportunities and risks.
- Create compelling data visualisations and performance storylines that drive action, bringing complex data science insights to life for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Own and continuously improve WE performance tracking processes, using data science to identify trends, optimise commercial strategies, and inform key business decisions.
- Collaborate across teams — including Global Commercial, Analytics & Insights, Data Platform, Data Science, and Digital Products — to ensure seamless integration of analytics solutions and alignment with broader business initiatives.
- Coach and mentor team members, share knowledge across the team, and stay current with emerging data science techniques and technologies to maximise impact and worth. Has a strong internal network and is keen to share knowledge
Do you have what it takes?
- Bachelors, Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Analytics or a related field.
- Proven experience applying machine learning and data science techniques to solve complex business problems.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python and/or R (including data science libraries), and version control tools like GitHub.
- Strong skills in data wrangling, modelling, and data visualisation — with an ability to balance speed and quality in a fast-paced business environment.
- Excellent communication skills to present complex methods and findings in a compelling way to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience or familiarity with Databricks, Agile Framework, Asset Bundles, MLOps Stacks, GitHub actions and Generative AI is a plus.
- Proven experience working with stakeholders to identify high-value solutions and deliver actionable results.
- A collaborative, positive mindset and experience coaching or mentoring junior data scientists.
- A passion for continuous learning, staying on top of the latest techniques and technologies, and sharing knowledge with your team.
- Previous experience in commercial analytics or the consumer goods industry is a plus.
