Your Role:

Senior Advisor - Engineering

As a Senior Advisor - Engineering, you will be a key technical expert within Elanco's Small Molecule Network (SMN). You will leverage your deep engineering expertise to provide critical consultation to our SMN manufacturing sites located primarily in Europe and APAC, ensuring the robustness and efficiency of our existing equipment and processes and effective planning for future capital assets. In this role, you will be responsible for advancing technical solutions for a diverse portfolio of technologies including liquid formulation, dry/wet granulation, blending, compression, coating, and packaging. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on a global scale, mentor other engineers, and solve complex challenges that are critical to our manufacturing strategy.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Technical Guidance & Process Optimization: Provide expert technical guidance and consultation to Elanco's Small Molecule Network sites on manufacturing equipment and process issues, advising on optimization, design, and troubleshooting for various product forms.

  • Strategic Project Leadership: Lead technical evaluations for capital projects, product launches, business development assessments, and technology assessments across Europe and APAC sites, and assist in site master plan development.

  • Capital Project Governance & Vendor Management: Coordinate capital project governance, including budgeting and forecasting, within the network, and serve as the lead technical contact for major equipment vendors.

  • Knowledge Sharing & Engineering Development: Develop and share best practices within the global engineering community, and mentor/coach junior engineering staff across the network to enhance technical capabilities.

  • Direct Technical Troubleshooting: Engage directly in troubleshooting complex technical issues and mobilize other technical experts as needed to support engineering investigations.

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

  • Education: B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in small molecule pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. Proven technical leadership capability (site leadership or project based) and ability to influence others.

  • Language: Fluency in English.

What will set you apart (preferred qualifications):

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a relevant engineering field.

  • 15+ years of significant experience in Animal Health, Pharmaceutical, or similar manufacturing environments.

  • Experience in a variety of small molecule technologies and platforms such as liquid formulation, dry granulation/wet granulation, blending, compression, coating, and packaging technology.

  • Familiarity with Elanco Global Standards.

  • Experience in a GMP environment with a working knowledge of EU and/or FDA regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Demonstrated expertise in technology transfer, process validation, and cleaning validation.

  • Direct experience supporting manufacturing sites across Europe and APAC.

  • Exposure to Lean Six Sigma principles or other continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with self-direction and as part of a multidisciplinary and/or multicultural team.

Additional Information:

Travel: Up to 30% annually, including domestic and international travel.
