About your role:
We’re looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our Capital and Financial Risk teams at British Gas. This is a high‑impact role where you’ll contribute to the Solvency II partial internal model, support capital and regulatory reporting, and help develop technical modelling capabilities.
You’ll also work closely with the Head of Financial Risk & Actuarial on a range of risk management activities including stress and scenario testing, the ORSA, and the Actuarial Function Report. The dual nature of this role offers broad exposure and excellent development opportunities.
Responsibilities of the role:
Capital Modelling & Reporting
Support Senior Capital Managers and the Head of Capital & Insurance Management in producing regulatory and economic capital results for key stakeholders.
Run elements of the capital model and prepare high‑quality, review‑ready outputs.
Support testing, validation, and internal control processes for PRA submissions and validation reports.
Contribute to wider capital‑related projects as required.
Model Development & Process Improvement
Work with Senior Capital Managers to enhance and develop components of the capital model.
Build bespoke forecasting tools or GLMs that deliver actionable insights for the business.
Identify opportunities where the capital team can add value beyond traditional actuarial work.
Risk Management & Regulatory Support
Assist in producing key regulatory deliverables, including the ORSA and Actuarial Function Report.
Support reviews of technical provisions, dividend proposals, and stress and scenario testing.
Work with the PRA compliance team, including horizon‑scanning and monitoring regulatory developments.
Here's what we’re looking for:
Strong analytical capability with the ability to clean, manipulate, and interpret complex datasets.
Applied statistical skills, including experience with GLMs and simulation techniques.
Solvency II knowledge, ideally with exposure to capital modelling or regulatory reporting.
Actuarial exam progress, typically part‑qualified and making steady progress.
Coding experience, ideally in Python or R.
Data visualisation skills, including dashboard creation and familiarity with tools such as Power BI.
Clear and confident communication, able to build relationships and explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
