About hyperexponential (hx)

At hyperexponential, we’re building the AI-powered platform that enables the world’s most critical decisions in a $7 trillion industry - which risks to take, and how to price them. These are the decisions that shape real-world outcomes: whether rockets successfully launch into space, autonomous vehicles make it to market, or communities recover after major storms.

Until now, insurance has been making billion-dollar decisions using outdated tools. We’re changing that. Our platform brings together data, AI, and human expertise to give insurers the fastest path from submission to decision - helping them move faster, act smarter, and take on more risk with confidence.

Backed by a16z, Highland Europe, and Battery Ventures, we’re scaling globally - already trusted by nearly 50 of the world’s largest insurers, with zero churn and billions in premiums flowing through hx.

What began as a single product in one market has rapidly evolved into a multi-product, multi-territory platform powering every stage of pricing and underwriting. AI is at the core of what we do - from building the world’s first domain-specific AI peer programmer for insurance (think GitHub Copilot with a PhD in actuarial science) to shaping agentic workflows that reinvent how this industry operates.

What makes hx different is the people who build it. Here, impact isn’t tied to title or tenure; it’s defined by the challenges you take on and the discipline you bring. Surrounded by peers who stretch you, you’ll do the best, hardest work of your life in a company engineered to endure.

If that sounds like you, join us in building what comes next.

About The Role

Many actuarial careers are defined by deep expertise within a single company or portfolio. At hx, you’ll take that expertise and broaden its impact - working across multiple insurers and seeing first-hand how the most sophisticated organisations are reshaping their pricing and underwriting. Instead of focusing on one perspective, you’ll help shape best practice across an entire industry.

As an Actuarial Account Manager, your role sits at the heart of hx’s Revenue organisation, where client success and commercial growth come together. This role puts actuarial credibility at the centre. You’ll be a trusted partner to Chief Actuaries, Pricing Directors, and underwriting leaders, guiding them as they embed hx Renew and our wider platform across their businesses. Because clients see you as a peer, you’ll influence both their technical approach and their strategic priorities - and in doing so, open the door to wider adoption, from new features to new lines and territories.

hx itself is evolving fast. What began as a single product now spans multiple products and use cases, with AI and portfolio intelligence extending what’s possible. Your job is to help clients keep pace with that evolution, showing where hx can unlock value they’re not capturing today. Commercial growth here follows naturally from outcomes: when you solve meaningful pricing and underwriting problems, cross-sell and up-sell are the consequence.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Take ownership of a group of clients: build clear plans for how you’ll support them, prioritise where you can create the most impact, and deliver against agreed growth and retention goals.

  • Broaden platform use: help clients expand from initial use cases into additional lines of business or geographies, ensuring measurable improvements in speed, quality, or insight.

  • Drive value-led growth: lead renewal and expansion discussions based on outcomes achieved (e.g. faster model build, richer portfolio insight), ensuring clients see clear return on their investment.

  • Bridge actuarial needs into delivery: work closely with Customer Success, Engineering, and Product teams to translate actuarial requirements into platform improvements and smooth client delivery.

  • Champion AI and portfolio intelligence: introduce clients to practical ways of applying AI in actuarial workflows and help them adopt portfolio-level insights to inform pricing and underwriting decisions.

  • Represent hx with credibility: lead conversations with senior actuaries and executives, contribute to client forums and industry events, and bring external insight back into our roadmap.

What You'll Need To Have Done
  • Qualified or nearly-qualified actuary with 5–7 years’ pricing experience (insurance, reinsurance, or consulting).

  • Built trust with senior stakeholders (Chief Actuary, Pricing Director, CUO) and influenced decisions beyond the model - process, governance, and portfolio choices.

  • Demonstrated commercial awareness (consulting engagements, value cases, or client-facing delivery) with clear examples of outcomes you helped drive.

  • Worked hands-on with actuarial tools, statistical modelling and large datasets; comfortable discussing methods, assumptions, and limitations with rigour.

  • Applied AI pragmatically (e.g. analysis, documentation, reporting, QA) and can explain where it helps, where it doesn’t, and how you validated outputs.

  • Communicated complex ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences; reliable written artefacts and executive-level presentations.

You’re Unlikely To Thrive Here If
  • You’re content with established actuarial processes and aren’t curious about how AI, automation, and portfolio intelligence could reshape the discipline.

  • You’d rather focus narrowly on technical tasks than engage clients in shaping how pricing and underwriting decisions are made and improved.

  • You need a highly structured environment with predefined playbooks, rather than the opportunity to help define new standards for how actuaries and insurers operate.

  • If reading our Culture Document leaves you feeling neutral rather than energised, hx may not be the place where you’ll do your best work. We’re building something that asks for commitment and conviction, and we want you to feel excited by the opportunity to grow with us.

Benefits
  • £5,000 training and conference budget for individual and group development.

  • 25 days of holiday plus 8 bank holidays (33 days total).

  • Company pension scheme via Penfold.

  • Mental health support and therapy via Spectrum.life.

  • Individual well-being allowance via Juno.

  • Private healthcare insurance through AXA.

  • Income protection and Life Insurance.

  • Cycle to Work Scheme

Additional Perks:
  • Top-spec equipment (laptop, screens, adjustable desks, etc.).

  • Regular hackathons, lunch & learns, and socials, both remote and in-person, to foster collaboration and creativity.

  • Team breakfasts and lunches, fully stocked snacks and drinks, and a fun, creative office at The Ministry.

  • Access to cutting-edge AI tools and experimentation budget, giving you the freedom to test, learn, and innovate ahead of the market.
