Scrum Master

Location: Hybrid - London

Package: Negotiable + Benefits

1 year Fixed Term Contract

At Brown & Brown (Europe), we are transforming insurance technology through agile, cross-functional teamwork. As Scrum Master, you will help two squads deliver valuable, high-quality outcomes by creating the conditions for focus, collaboration, transparency and continuous improvement. You will work closely with Product Managers, Tech Leads, engineers and stakeholders, using servant leadership to help each squad become increasingly effective and self-managing.

The day to day:

You will be the Scrum Master for two software delivery squads. Your focus will be on team effectiveness and the consistent application of agile ways of working. You will facilitate key ceremonies, coach squad members and Product Owners, remove impediments, and make delivery risks and dependencies visible. Working across both squads, you will encourage shared learning while adapting your approach to the needs and maturity of each team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support two squads: Provide dedicated Scrum Master support across two cross-functional software delivery squads, balancing priorities and maintaining effective engagement with both.
  • Facilitate agile delivery: Plan and facilitate sprint planning, daily Scrum, refinement, reviews and retrospectives, ensuring ceremonies are purposeful and outcome-focused.
  • Coach and enable: Coach squad members, Product Managers and stakeholders in Scrum, agile and lean principles, helping teams strengthen ownership and self-management.
  • Remove impediments: Identify obstacles early, coordinate their resolution and escalate where wider support or decisions are required.
  • Improve flow and predictability: Use appropriate delivery measures and team insight to identify bottlenecks, support realistic planning and drive evidence-led improvement.
  • Manage risks and dependencies: Make delivery risks, issues and cross-squad dependencies visible, supporting timely action and clear ownership.
  • Strengthen collaboration: Build effective working relationships across Product, Engineering, Architecture, QA, Operations and external partners.
  • Enable stakeholder communication: Support clear, transparent communication on progress, priorities, risks and changes without creating unnecessary administration for the squads.
  • Embed continuous improvement: Create psychological safety for reflection and feedback, agree practical improvement actions and follow through on outcomes.
  • Support delivery health: Help squads maintain quality, a sustainable pace and readiness for production releases, and support coordination during delivery issues or incidents where required.
  • Share good practice: Contribute to consistent agile ways of working across Digital Delivery while recognising that each squad may require a tailored approach.

About you:

  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Delivery professional supporting software engineering teams.
  • Experience supporting more than one squad or workstream at the same time.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Scrum and a good understanding of Kanban, lean delivery and the software development lifecycle.
  • Excellent facilitation, coaching and servant leadership skills.
  • Ability to build trust, challenge constructively and influence without relying on authority.
  • Experience identifying and resolving impediments, risks and dependencies in complex delivery environments.
  • Confidence using delivery data and team feedback to support improvement, without turning metrics into individual performance measures.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience working with Product Owners and Tech Leads.
  • Experience working with distributed teams and external technology partners would be beneficial.
  • A recognised Scrum or agile qualification is desirable, supported by a commitment to continuous learning.

The rewards:

  • A negotiable basic salary and all the usual benefits you would expect, including holiday and a company pension.
  • A collaborative, open and honest environment designed to deliver the best outcomes for our clients and teammates.
  • A flexible working
  • An environment built around supporting and developing our teammates, with funding available for relevant professional qualifications.
