We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master within a London market insurer. This is a broad, cross-functional delivery role - sitting across three active teams rather than being embedded in a single project. The successful candidate will bring stakeholder communications, processing, date tracking, and release activity into one joined-up view, ensuring delivery continues to move at pace across a varied and concurrent portfolio of work.

Delivery Approach

The organisation operates a Kanban-based model rather than fixed sprints. Work is prioritised on a just-in-time basis in close collaboration with stakeholders, and the Scrum Master is responsible for moving items across boards, coordinating between teams, removing blockers, and maintaining visibility across all active workstreams. Tasks in scope can range from a single-day tactical deliverable to initiatives running over several months.

Teams in Scope

The role spans three teams:

1. Data and MI

Technical delivery across the enterprise data warehouse, Power BI reporting, and upstream and downstream finance reporting.

2. Continuous Improvement
Business process improvement and existing system change, with a primary focus on underwriting and operations. This team does not cover BAU defect management. Some exposure to finance, claims, and exposure management is anticipated.

3. Analytics
A lighter-touch area, primarily covering release management for pricing and actuarial tools. Typically a few hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Co-facilitate a weekly CI working group, ensuring all backlog items are ready for review and have been assessed by the internal team in advance of each session
  • Maintain and update backlog items following analysis, keeping records current and accurate at all times
  • Facilitate internal Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups and the weekly CI backlog review
  • Collaborate with the CI working group to manage and prioritise the backlog, ensuring clarity, completeness, and alignment with delivery objectives
  • Maintain the Kanban board, Azure DevOps queries, and associated dashboards across all teams
  • Manage delivery dates and keep commitments on track across internal and external partners
  • Provide weekly reporting via a progress tracking table, roadmap, or delivery plan
  • Work across a broad stakeholder group including IT application developers, finance and data Business Analysts, the Head of Business Analysis, Testers, Release Managers, Infrastructure teams, and business users
  • Identify and remove blockers and delivery impediments to keep teams focused on agreed commitments
  • Lead release management activity including representing the function at CAB (Change Advisory Board)
  • Manage and enable communications to the CI working group, including via the IT BSG team
  • Provide the governance and control layer needed where dependencies cut across functions, particularly where data and reporting requests span teams

Requirements
  • Demonstrable Scrum Master or delivery coordination experience in a multi-team, cross-functional environment
  • Strong portfolio management capability — comfortable holding a wide view across concurrent workstreams of varying size and complexity
  • Hands-on experience with Kanban-based delivery and tooling, specifically Azure DevOps
  • Confident facilitating Agile ceremonies and working group sessions with mixed stakeholder audiences
  • Detail-focused with excellent stakeholder communication and coordination skills
  • London market or broader financial services experience is advantageous but not essential — domain knowledge helps, but delivery rigour and cross-functional capability are the primary requirements
