SAP CO S/4HANA Transformation Consultant, United Kingdom

Contract: Day-rate contract. Start: 10 November 2026 Location: Hybrid, London, United Kingdom. Day rate: GBP 400 a day, inside IR35. Language: English.

The programme

A global manufacturing organisation is moving its finance and controlling processes onto SAP S/4HANA. The controlling stream covers how cost flows through the business, how inventory and production are valued, and how finance will see margin once the new system is live.

You will own the CO design for the areas you are given. You will run design and fit-gap sessions with the finance team, agree the answer with the FI, MM, PP and SD streams, and write it down for the build team. You will then carry that design through build, testing, data migration and cutover.

What you will work on

Product costing for manufacturing. Cost estimates, cost component structures, work in process and production variances. Material ledger and actual costing, including the period-end close. Cost centre and profit centre accounting. Allocations, planning and internal reporting. Margin analysis on S/4HANA, and the margin reporting finance will rely on. Integration with FI, MM, PP and SD, so that purchasing, production and sales postings land correctly in controlling. Design workshops and fit-gap with finance controllers and plant finance teams. Functional specifications for the build team, working closely with integration, development and test leads. Test planning and defect resolution through integration and user acceptance testing. Data migration checks and cutover for controlling, including open production orders and inventory values.

What you bring

10 or more years of SAP CO. At least one S/4HANA conversion or new implementation in a CO role, where you did the design yourself, not only the configuration. Product costing and material ledger experience in a manufacturing business. A working understanding of the Universal Journal and what it changes for controlling compared with ECC. Experience running workshops with finance users and explaining design choices in business terms. Comfort working hybrid in a programme team made up of several companies.

Useful but not essential:

A move from costing-based CO-PA to margin analysis. Time on a large multi-country programme run by a systems integrator. Automotive, industrial or process manufacturing. Group reporting, transfer pricing or intercompany flows between plants. SAP certification in S/4HANA management accounting.

How to respond

Apply with your CV and your available start date. With it, add three lines on your most recent S/4HANA CO programme: the scope, whether it was a conversion or a new implementation, and what you personally designed.
