This position reports to:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop and execute the UK drives sales strategy to support the relevant business strategy. You will lead the relevant Drive Products Sales team, driving sales growth with sales targets predominantly focused outside the segment-specific portfolio. Monitoring sales performance whilst developing and coaching the sales organisation are key aspects of the role. It also requires a strong level of cross-business collaboration with a focus on technical and commercial aspects and supporting new business development and business growth.

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.

Work model: Hybrid

  • Leads and manages the relevant drive products sales team.
  • Ensures the team understand ABB’s core values and safety and integrity standards and act accordingly.
  • Develops and executes the UK Sales strategy meeting business objectives and working closely with key stakeholders.
  • Focuses on demand generation, new business development and specification & influence activities to ensure growth and increase in market share.   
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with key decision makers in existing and potential customer organisations and manages a specific sales area
  • Defines sales targets and establishes KPIs and tools to monitor sales performance.
  • Supports sales teams to achieve sales volume and mix targets.
  • Develops and implements relevant sales processes and tools and related training.
  • Identifies and evaluates growth opportunities with existing and new segments and customers, develops appropriate plans and allocates required resources.
  • Monitors customer and market intelligence to inform pricing strategies, product management activities and other topics.
  • Identifies and manages commercial risks related to contract arrangements across partners and customers.
  • Collaborates strongly across teams, divisions, business areas and functions.
  • Builds an effective, competent, high-performing sales team supported by competency assessment and continuous upskilling.
  • Acts as a coach and mentor for individual and team development.
Qualifications for the Role
  • More than 5 years of experience in leading and managing a distributed sales team
  • Strong commercial focus, ability to demonstrate experience in driving sales and new business development activities
  • Strong customer and market focus, able to position the portfolio in a highly competitive market
  • Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
  • Extensive knowledge and proven experience in drives and automation is preferred
  • Passionate about technology, innovation, sustainability and energy efficiency
  • Holder of a full UK driving licence
