Purpose of the Role


Sales Business Manager (SBM) is a senior commercial leader responsible for driving sustainable growth, market share expansion, and strategic account development across the London North Electrophysiology (EP) business. The role combines advanced clinical knowledge, commercial acumen, customer partnership, and leadership to accelerate adoption of Johnson & Johnson MedTech technologies and future innovations.

As a senior member of the regional team, the SBM leads key customer relationships, shapes commercial strategy, drives new product introductions, mentors colleagues, and acts as a strategic partner to customers, internal stakeholders, and regional leadership.


Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Account Leadership
  • Develop and execute long-term account strategies aligned with regional and national business objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across EP services, including physicians, physiologists, procurement teams, business managers, and executive leadership.
  • Identify growth opportunities through clinical, commercial, and operational insight.
  • Proactively defend and expand market share against competitive technologies and commercial offerings.
  • Drive account planning activities that support future hardware, software, and catheter adoption.
Commercial Excellence
  • Lead development of business cases and customer proposals in collaboration with Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) and Commercial Business Managers (CBMs).
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of pricing strategy, NHSSC frameworks, commercial agreements, S&L programmes, commitment-based agreements, and capital equipment commercialisation.
  • Present and support Funding and Pricing Committee (FPC) business cases.
  • Utilise financial analysis and market intelligence to guide customer discussions and business decisions.
Clinical Leadership
  • Provide independent clinical support across AF, complex ablation, and VARIPULSE procedures.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of CARTO systems, mapping technologies, and the broader EP portfolio.
  • Confidently discuss clinical evidence, landmark trials, and emerging data with customers.
  • Use clinical insight to influence customer adoption and support competitive conversion opportunities.
New Product Introduction (NPI) & Market Development
  • Lead regional strategies for new product adoption and penetration.
  • Drive utilisation of clinical, commercial, and LEM data to identify growth opportunities.
  • Partner with Marketing, Education, NTS, and Clinical teams to maximise customer engagement and technology adoption.
  • Coordinate innovation meetings, MDT discussions, customer workshops, and educational events to accelerate adoption.
Leadership and Team Development
  • Lead weekly POD planning meetings, ensuring alignment, accountability, and execution of strategic priorities.
  • Coach and mentor Sales and Clinical team members through formal and informal development opportunities.
  • Provide constructive feedback and utilise recognised coaching frameworks to improve performance.
  • Champion best-practice sharing across the UK business and actively contribute during national meetings and forums.
  • Act as a role model for organisational values, leadership behaviours, and Credo principles.
Customer Engagement & Education
  • Deliver high-quality customer presentations and educational programmes.
  • Organise customer dinners, webinar watch parties, and innovation events to strengthen partnerships and support business growth.
  • Collaborate with Professional Education teams to identify and develop educational opportunities that meet customer needs.
  • Facilitate connections between local customers, UK KOLs, and EMEA stakeholders.
Operational Excellence
  • Lead coordination of hardware and software installations in partnership with NTS and Field Service teams.
  • Ensure effective management of implementation projects to minimise delays and maximise customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain strong utilisation of CRM, SFE, Axonify, and business planning tools.
  • Support national activities, vacancy cover, recruitment processes, and strategic projects as required.
Candidate ProfileEssential Experience
  • Proven success within a medical device, healthcare, or EP commercial environment.
  • Consistent track record of delivering or exceeding sales objectives.
  • Strong understanding of the electrophysiology market and competitive landscape.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex stakeholder relationships and influencing strategic decisions.
  • Experience developing and presenting business cases and commercial proposals.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Advanced understanding of EP procedures and technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of CARTO systems and EP mapping solutions.
  • Excellent commercial and financial acumen.
  • Skilled in Challenger selling methodologies and value-based discussions.
  • Outstanding presentation, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
