Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Provide sales and marketing support to the in-house sales department and freelance sales representatives
  • Work as part of a small team in a varied role that requires excellent organisational skills and strong initiative
  • Support the sales team with sales and marketing activities for our sold publishers through the IPS UK warehouse.

Essential Job Duties:

Sales Support

  • Serve as the first point of contact for general sales enquiries from customers, publishers, sales teams, and internal colleagues.
  • Support the internal sales team and external rep teams to maximise sales for Full-Service clients through the IPS UK warehouse.
  • Efficiently process orders via the IPS UK warehouse.
  • Maintain and update the publication schedule for all Full-Service publishers, ensuring timely communication of changes to the wider sales team.
  • Submit monthly customer grids
  • Attend publisher meetings and provide client support
  • Conduct outreach to UK independent booksellers.

Marketing Support

  • In-house sales teams, publishers, and freelance representatives with marketing support 
  • Support marketing campaigns through print and social media for our titles
  • Identify and compile specialist accounts that align with our specialist genre publishers and create tailored marketing materials.
  • Manage the museum and exhibition calendar.
  • Create and manage the distribution of our biannual catalogue
  • Coordinate advance copy/sample mailings for customers and representatives.
  • Submit titles for trade seasonal promotions and catalogues.
  • Oversee the Co-op spend grid.
  • Work with internal client managers to ensure metadata accuracy for sales through IPS UK.
  • Collaborate with the wider international marketing team to maximise all marketing opportunities 
  • Liaise with booksellers and event organisers to arrange event stock

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and Canva
  • Self-Motivated
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong sales focus – the key outcome of this plan is to drive volume
  • Good organisation and planning skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Able to multi-task effectively
  • Good time management skills

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Passion and genuine interest in pursuing a career in the book /publishing industry

Education:

  • Degree level desirable
  • A Level / College level education essential
  • GCSE English and Maths grade C or above essential

Essential Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit at workstation for extended periods of time effectively using a personal computer
  • Ability to operate computer equipment, including keyboard and monitor, phone equipment and other necessary office equipment
  • Occasional travel may be required
