Role description:

Resilience is one of Arcadis’ core business lines and operates across several sectors including water, energy, environmental and industrial. We provide valued advice and support to leading clients who supply the population with the resources used in our daily lives. Our projects range from nationally significant infrastructure schemes to mass volume utility works.
As a Risk Professional you will be working within Arcadis’ Energy Networks & Renewables team, focusing on key renewable energy projects, programmes and portfolios across the transmission & distribution sectors.
We are looking for Risk Professionals to lead/ deliver risk management activities across major projects, programmes and portfolios with a strong emphasis on QSRA / QCRA work. The successful candidate will identify, analyse and manage cost, schedule and business risks, support commercial decision-making, and embed best-practice risk processes across delivery teams. 
This role is suitable for candidates at different career stages; responsibilities and expectations will be calibrated to the chosen level. You will ensure high-quality delivery, develop team capability, and support client account growth.

The main purpose of the role is to:

Work with project teams to implement/deliver effective risk management processes, procedures and best practice into their projects, programmes and portfolios. 
Develop and deliver risk management consultancy services to a wide range of major Clients.
Act as a technical expert within Resilience, providing subject matter input on pursuits and to project team members in line with project or programme objectives.

Location
Due to further plans for growth across Northern England and the West Midlands, we are looking for energetic and well-rounded risk management professionals to join our Team, providing solutions for our key clients across the transportation, infrastructure and buildings sectors.
 

Role accountabilities:

  • Deliver risk management services to clients in compliance with client governance, processes and objectives. 
  • Undertake day-to-day risk management activities including identification, assessment, management, review and reporting of risks, issues and opportunities.
  • Produce periodic risk reporting which may include profiled risk expenditure, impacted risk / contingency drawdown and risk exposure changes.
  • Advise project teams on mitigation, contingency, allocation of risk, and commercial implications. 
  • Develop, validate and run Quantitative Risk Analysis including Cost, Schedule and integrated Cost and Schedule analyses, to enable robust forecasting and tracking of risk exposure.
  • Use knowledge and experience to ensure identification and management of all significant risks to achievement of project objectives.
  • Deliver discrete risk interventions and embedded risk management services, supporting governance and escalation of significant risks and ensuring consistent application of risk frameworks and standards. 
  • Coach and mentor junior team members (for senior roles) and contribute to capability building. 
  • Drive continuous improvement in tools, processes and data quality for risk management.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Desire to work towards relevant professional certification, such as APM Risk Certificate, IRM Certificate/Diploma.
  • Practical experience in project, programme or enterprise risk management (scale/level will vary by role). 
  • Experience in the regulated environments, with a particular focus on Energy.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to build and interpret risk models and present probabilistic outcomes 
  • Experience in the application of Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) techniques and tools, for example: @Risk, Primavera Risk Analysis (previously Pertmaster), Safran including the analysis of complex logic-linked cost-loaded schedules. 
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management tools, for example, Active Risk Manager (ARM), Predict! and Xactium.
  • Understanding of construction contracts and the relationship between risk management and controls/management functions including: project management, change control, planning & scheduling, cost & commercial management and reporting.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex information simply. 
  • Evidence of previous experience in definition and delivery of risk management plans within projects. 
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Collaborative working style and consulting behaviours.
  • A logical approach and ability to think through complex issues to co-ordinate multi-faceted aspects of projects.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently.
