The role will reside within Firm Risk Management’s COO function. The COO team has responsibility for ensuring the operational effectiveness of the EMEA FRM Division as well as contributing to the EMEA FRM People Strategy.

Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.

What will you be doing?
•    Perform monthly expense analysis to track actuals vs. budget and to identify exceptional items 
•    Update the internal expense forecasts on a regular basis
•    Contribute to the monthly global expense tracking processes, ad-hoc expense and headcount queries
•    Provide senior management with regular expense and headcount updates to assist with decision making
•    Collaborate with HR, Sourcing, IT, Corporate Services and other key stakeholders with regards to tracking permanent headcount and contingent workers, including the onboarding of new joiners
•    Contribute to departmental communications and senior management / regulatory-ready materials
•    Contribute to and support initiatives related to the EMEA FRM People Strategy
•    Contribute to business continuity planning processes across a number of risk areas/locations and ensure consistency where appropriate
•    Support other processes within the COO remit, including ad-hoc requests and PowerPoint presentations

What we’re looking for:
•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
•    Good knowledge of controls and processes
•    The ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, both written and verbally
•    An interest in working in a fast-paced environment, often balancing multiple high priority deliverables
•    Strong attention to detail and ability to provide information in usable formats (proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
•    The ability to work independently in a self-directed way in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
•    The ability to develop partnerships across functions and geographies
•    Confidence to take ideas forward and to challenge others, where appropriate, with experience in management by influence, facilitating and gaining consensus

Skills that will help you in the role:
•    Experience in financial services, preferably in areas relating to COO (preferred)
•    Experience in Risk Management at leading financial institutions (preferred)

Where will you be working?
This role is based in 20 Bank Street, London.
