As a Resource Manager, you will help ensure work is allocated fairly and effectively across your Practice Groups. You’ll balance business needs with individual development and wellbeing, using insight and judgement to support how work is distributed.

About the role 

Working closely with a Senior Resource Manager, Partners and Practice Group Leads, you’ll act as a trusted point of contact on resourcing. You will contribute to improving how resource management works across the firm, including the use of our Capacity platform. Resource Managers are expected to support senior members of the resource management team to make the service as effective as possible and to act as ambassadors for the function internally.

In this role, you can expect to get involved in a variety of work including: 

  • Oversee day-to-day allocation of work across your Practice Groups

  • Match work to skills, while considering development, workload and wellbeing

  • Identify and respond to resourcing pressure points, peaks and gaps

  • Build strong working relationships with Partners, team leads and colleagues

  • Use data to monitor utilisation and support forward planning

  • Share clear, practical insight to support decision-making

  • Support career development through thoughtful allocation of work

  • Work with HR, L&D and Knowledge teams where needed

  • Encourage consistent and effective use of the Capacity platform

  • Contribute to improving resource management processes and tools

  • Support wider team initiatives and onboarding of new groups where required 

About you

  •  A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in resource or workforce planning, ideally in a law firm (Other professional services environments will be considered)

  • The ability to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders

  • Confidence using data to inform decisions and identify trends

  • Sound judgement and a balanced, practical approach

  • Clear and professional communication skills

  • Comfort working in a changing environment and managing competing priorities

  • Experience supporting change or process improvement
