Description

Infopro Digital, the B2B group specialising in information and technology, is currently looking for a Research Manager on a permanent contract to strengthen the team at its Barbour ABI business.

AMA Research, part of Barbour ABI, is the market-leading specialist provider of market research and insight to the UK building and construction industry. We publish over 150 off-the-shelf market reports and forecast bulletins about the different sectors and sub-sectors of the built environment. We produce reports with insights that go beyond the commonly available sources of market data. AMA Research also offers research consultancy services, including surveys, interviews and bespoke data analysis.

Role Overview:

As Research Manager you will be a key player in AMA. The main purpose of the role is to work with specialist researchers to produce, edit and publish a set of market reports. You will plan the reports, support the authors, edit the reports and publish them. This is a remote role within the UK, with the requirement to visit the Head Office near Chester for a team meeting, once every month.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work with the Head of Content to plan the report schedule.
  • Co-ordinate report production with a set of specialist authors, including briefing, managing contracts, invoicing and keeping production on track.
  • Work with our analysts to extract data to use in reports.
  • Carry out desk research, occasional interviews and analysis to support the report authors. You will use these primary and secondary sources to build a view of the market.
  • Edit and proof-read reports to ensure they meet our high standards in terms of accuracy, written English and presentation.
  • Create content for marketing materials related to the report, including web pages, press releases, video commentary, and articles for journals and blog posts.
  • As well as editing reports, you will sometimes write reports yourself.
  • Build your own profile within the subject area through attending conferences and exhibitions, and through social media.
Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience Required:

  • Experience in research to interrogate and analyse data and statistics, especially company data and official statistics and reports, such as economic and industry output data from the Office for National Statistics.
  • Strong data analysis skills, and a questioning mindset with the ability to ‘find the story’ in the data.
  • Project management, including managing multiple projects.
  • Confident in using Microsoft Excel, such as pivot tables and graphs.
  • First-class report writing and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A Degree in a subject such as economics, social sciences, marketing, business and humanities. Other subjects will be considered.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Competent in carrying out qualitative research interviews.
  • Experience of managing others, ideally freelance researchers.
  • Experience in trends analysis and market forecasting.
  • Expertise in social media.
  • Knowledge of the built environment, including key issues, products, companies, and activities.
  • Interest in sustainability, new technologies, supply chains, manufacturing processes, the economy and consumer.
  • Membership of the Market Research Society.
Benefits
  • 3pm finish on a Friday
  • Remote role in the UK
  • 25 to 30 days holiday
  • Day off for your birthday
  • Purchase extra holidays
  • Volunteering days
  • Pension and Life Assurance
  • Great company culture that offers professional development, training and regular social events
