About the Opportunity
The role involves assessing and monitoring the quality of incoming, in-production, and packed products, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures, conducting tests and checks, and verifying that packaging and labelling meet required specifications. It also includes ensuring product safety, legality, authenticity, quality, and brand integrity, in line with site policies. The position requires maintaining health & safety, hygiene, and security standards, while adhering to environmental practices. Responsibilities
- Perform intake quality assessments as needed and provide daily reports to suppliers.
- Monitor product quality during the packing process, ensuring compliance with approvals, labelling, packaging, and specific requirements, while liaising with production teams.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of customer specifications and packing requirements.
- Ensure adherence to relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Carry out sample preparation and assist the technical team when necessary.
- Calibrate measuring and monitoring equipment as required.
- Complete shelf-life assessments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Liaise with production management and the allocation team to resolve any quality-related issues.
- Ensure packed products meet customer specifications and complete necessary positive release checks.
- Uphold high standards of health, safety, and hygiene through the "clean as you go" policy.
- Take samples for analysis and quality control purposes.
- Manage and cover three production lines independently.
- Conduct metal detection and checkweigher checks to ensure product accuracy.
- Perform routine checks on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Support operations teams and other departments as needed.
- Provide support to the QA Manager and QA Supervisors as required.
- Undertake other ad hoc duties as required.
Candidate Profile
- Evidence of experience working in a comparable role, preferably within the soft fruit industry.
- Strong appreciation of our business needs and resourcefulness in coming up with solutions to their challenges.
- Ability to relate to key client personnel in a professional and credible fashion.
- Well-developed personal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with colleagues across professional, operational, and cultural boundaries.
- Proactive approach and prompt responses to all service requests.
- Good time management and organisational skills with the ability to handle several tasks at once.
- Good IT skills including experience of Word and Excel.
