About the role:
disguise is looking for an experienced QA Lead to steer and grow a high-performing QA team with a strong focus on automated testing frameworks and quality at scale.
In this role, you will manage 5 direct reports, mentor QA engineers in both technical and career development, and champion automation-first quality practices across the organisation. You will work closely with software, hardware, support, and project teams to embed quality early, improve pipelines, and ensure reliable delivery of a world-class product.
What you will do:
- Lead, mentor, and line-manage members of the QA team, with a focus on automation excellence
- Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance feedback, and career development planning
- Define, implement, and evolve automated test strategies using Python and Javascript
- Drive the design, maintenance, and scalability of automated test frameworks
- Balance people management with hands-on technical leadership when needed
- Advocate for automation over manual testing where appropriate, improving coverage and efficiency
- Work closely with software, hardware, support, and project management teams to identify risks, requirements, and quality gaps early
- Communicate test coverage, quality metrics, and risks clearly to stakeholders
- Improve CI/CD pipelines, test environments, and QA processes to increase reliability and speed
- Provide constructive technical and personal feedback to team members
- Influence prioritisation decisions with a quality-driven mindset
- Support hiring, onboarding, and growing the QA function
Skills and experience we are looking for:
- You have extensive experience leading a QA team OR mentoring junior QAs
- You are proficient in d3 or equivalent media playback platforms like Pixera, Watchout, 7th Sense, OR content creation platforms such as Unreal Engine, Unity, Notch WITH generic hardware experience.
- You are proficient in programming languages like Python, Javascript, Go, SQL for Databases
- You are able to improve pipelines and processes to improve quality
- You can troubleshoot technical issues and communicate these issues
- You can raise reports and feed back to leads
- You have extensive experience collaborating with other departments (technical and non-technical)
- You have clear communication, both verbal and written
