We’re looking for a QA Engineer to join our digital product delivery function. Red Badger delivers high quality digital products using a lean delivery process and multidisciplinary, cross-functional teams.
We believe there is more to QA than testing. As a QA Engineer, you will be the champion of quality in a cross-discipline team, and responsible for all aspects of quality from well defined and understood product feature description to testing and release management, balancing risk with speed of delivery. You will bring with you consultancy skills, crucial in transforming the QA practices of our client base.
You will enjoy seeking out innovative solutions to complex problems, embracing new tools and techniques, and have a strategic approach to everything you do. You will work with your team and the immediate stakeholders to continuously improve the QA process of the project, and work on influencing the overall QA practice of the client. You are comfortable forming a QA strategy for a complex digital product and influencing the client in a diplomatic manner to enable executing it.
You are passionate about delivering quality software and can lean on your rounded skill set to enhance the Product, Agile software delivery and Technology capabilities of the team. Working as part of a cross-functional team, you will ensure that QA is never siloed, but injected into everything we do.
Key Responsibilities
Discipline expertise
- Looking at quality holistically and throughout the software development process
- Promoting lean approach to QA and focus on delivering maximum value with minimal effort
- Adopting a risk-based approach to quality assurance
- Supporting a continuous delivery approach
- Advocating for simplicity in testing, approach, ways of working and tool choice
- Advocating innovative approach / use of new technology and techniques where appropriate
Leading QA in a team
- Collaborating with the Tech Lead on lean testing and release strategy balancing risk and speed of delivery
- Managing the issue backlog and facilitating bug triage based on risk and impact
- Working closely with the Product Owner and Delivery Lead on prioritising product features and uncovering edge cases
- Pairing with other team members and encourage a focus on quality and observability in the team
- Assisting the team with support process and incident management
Influencing our clients
- Consulting with peers from the client on areas of QA expertise
- Working with client leadership to enable the team strategies and ways of woking
Supporting our team
- Line management of junior and mid-level members of the QA team
- Contributing to the QA discipline at Red Badger
It’d be great if you
- Are proficient in exploratory testing in a full-stack digital product and identifying good candidates for automation
- Have experience formulating a testing strategy comprising exploratory and automated testing
- Have a track record of improving QA process, testing often, early and in line with Lean principles
- Are comfortable working with engineers on complex technical issues
- Are experienced in collaborating with Product-oriented peers on user-focussed solutions
- Have extensive experience operating within an Agile environment
- Have experience managing the release process for a product or suite of products
- Champion user-focused QA, such as accessibility testing
It’d be amazing if you also
- Have experience using monitoring and log management tools to identify issues in a live system
- Have experience with production incident management and post mortems
- Have non-functional experience including basic security, performance testing
- Have experience with automated end-to-end and API testing tools and techniques
