Project Planner (Rail - Primavera P6) Client: Neos Networks – Project Reach

Role Purpose
This role provides client-side programme management and planning support for Project Reach. The postholder will own the client High-Level Programme in Primavera P6, assure contractor programmes under NEC4, and manage progress and reporting across all delivery workstreams.
In addition, the planner will manage defined work packages on behalf of the project team and provide structured planning and reporting support to both the Senior Project Manager and the Head of PMO.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Ownership & Management
Own, maintain and update the client High-Level Programme (HLP) within Primavera P6.
Maintain scheduling integrity including logic, dependencies, key milestones, float management and critical path.
Align supplier programmes with the HLP and ensure delivery visibility across all areas of work.
Support scenario modelling and programme impact assessments.
Contractor Programme Assurance (NEC4)
Lead the client-side assurance of contractor programmes, ensuring NEC compliance, logical integrity and realism.
Coordinate programme submissions, client review cycles, acceptance processes and change impacts.
Provide clear, justified recommendations to the Senior PM and Head of PMO on programme acceptability.
Evaluate early warnings, compensation events and schedule impacts using P6.
Work Package Management
Manage defined work packages or delivery streams on behalf of the Senior PM.
Coordinate scope, interfaces, risks, assumptions and dependencies for assigned packages.
Monitor contractor performance, progress and blockers across those packages, escalating issues early.
Ensure that progress and forecasting from work packages feed accurately into the HLP.
Progress Measurement & Reporting
Track and validate volume-based progress (e.g. route preparation, cable installation, joint bays, testing & commissioning).
Compare supplier progress against schedule logic, work rates and planned curves.
Identify slippage, risks, trends and opportunities using programme and performance data.
Produce weekly/monthly reports, dashboards and progress packs for the Senior PM, Head of PMO and other stakeholders.
PMO & Senior PM Support
Support the Senior PM with planning insight, performance analysis and delivery coordination.
Provide structured reporting and schedule assurance inputs into PMO governance.
Assist the Head of PMO with consolidated programme reviews, schedule risk insights and reporting to Neos leadership.
Act as a trusted planning advisor across the project team, providing clear guidance and early visibility of issues.
Governance & Interfaces
Support programme inputs into governance forums, progress reviews, design/engineering meetings and supplier reviews.
Engage proactively with contractors, commercial, design and delivery teams to resolve programme issues.
Maintain disciplined version control, audit trails and change logs.
Essential Experience & Skills
Strong hands-on Primavera P6 expertise, ideally in live rail, telecoms or linear infrastructure environments.
Experience assuring and challenging contractor programmes and logic.
Knowledge of NEC4 programme requirements and change mechanisms.
Experience managing or coordinating discrete work packages.
Ability to analyse progress, trends and performance metrics with accuracy.
Proficient user of Excel and desirable experience with Power BI.
