Our Purpose
Mastercard powers economies and empowers people in 200+ countries and territories worldwide. Together with our customers, we're helping build a sustainable economy where everyone can prosper. We support a wide range of digital payments choices, making transactions secure, simple, smart and accessible. Our technology and innovation, partnerships and networks combine to deliver a unique set of products and services that help people, businesses and governments realize their greatest potential.
Title and Summary
Lead Software Engineer
The Infrastructure Design Engineering Automation team builds the tools that power how Mastercard designs and delivers infrastructure. Our flagship product, RAA (Reference Architecture Automation), is a browser-based application that aims to eventually replace Visio for Technical Architecture Documents (TADs), enforces standards/security via built-in guardrails and approvals, and generates codified outputs for downstream automation-accelerating delivery with higher quality and traceability.
As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll serve as a hands-on technical lead for a product squad, partnering with architects, IDEs, security, and program teams to ship impactful features end-to-end. You'll lead design and implementation of core RAA capabilities while mentoring engineers and raising the bar on code quality, testing, observability, and reliability. You'll also focus on driving additional automation opportunities across IDE and helping to set an automation-first mindset.
What you'll do• Lead feature development for RAA-from technical discovery through design, implementation, testing, and production rollout-owning measurable outcomes for quality, performance, and user adoption. • Model excellent engineering practices in a modern TypeScript/React codebase (including robust unit tests and pragmatic refactoring), and guide teammates through code reviews and design discussions.• Shepherd platform integrations and partner with platform teams to unblock delivery.• Mentor and grow engineers through pairing, design reviews, and constructive feedback; influence engineering standards, patterns, and re-use across IDEA. • Contribute to the RAA roadmap with data-informed prioritization and crisp technical specs.
Basic qualifications• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years as a tech lead or feature lead in a modern front-end environment. • Deep proficiency in TypeScript and React (or comparable modern UI stack), with a record of shipping enterprise web apps.• Demonstrated ability to design clear, maintainable APIs and component boundaries, and to guide teams through iterative delivery with strong test coverage.
Preferred qualifications• Experience with Next.js and performance-minded UI architecture. • Familiarity with infrastructure/networking concepts
