What we are recruiting for:
We are currently recruiting for a Project Manager to join our regional Construction business as part of our legacy team. Our legacy team are current embarking on Project Lendlease which is a programme of works across multiple schools previously constructed by Bovis (Lendlease). Bovis are currently under a regional service agreement for Birmingham Building Schools for the Future legacy works and as such we have 3nr schools all located close to Birmingham City Centre.
The project comprises of reviewing, planning and coordinating desk top works for review of alleged defects as well as on site works during out of ours and school holidays as required. The project team are currently working remotely but there may be a time where the team will relocate to a Birmingham City Centre office location.
The role of the Project Manager is to ensure that an effective and productive liaison is established with respect to all aspects of the project delivery, between the design team, project / site team, commercial, client teams and supply chain putting the expertise of all to the best possible use. The Manager will liaise with the Design Manager and will be instrumental in coordinating and guiding the consultant team and supply chain through the delivery of the packages to mitigate design risk and maximise value to the client/business.
Roles and responsibilities:
- The Project Manager is responsible for providing project leadership and managing the overall execution of construction projects from initiation to completion.
- This encompasses creating a detailed project strategy, plan, and schedule, and driving the project delivery within that plan to maximize outcomes for the client and the business.
- The manager is accountable for the implementation and compliance with all company safety requirements across staff, contractors, and work practices, actively managing and mitigating project risks through comprehensive understanding and collaboration.
Essential credentials
- Have a related Chartership such as CIOB.
- Professional Construction Qualifications relevant to the role.
Essential skills
- Ability to get required security clearance for the role.
- Ability to prepare short, medium and long-term programmes to establish coordinated strategies to deliver works packages.
- Ability to manage package risks and drive opportunities to maximise value.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, both technical and non-technical, to clients, supply chain, peers, and stakeholders.
- Demonstrate an ability to be flexible in recognising where working methods require adapting and changing to suit a change in project needs or new challenges.
- Demonstrate an ability to ensure delivery of work packages and in places betterment of commercial targets.
- Demonstrates an ability to communicate effectively and lead the construction delivery team and construction workforce.
Essential knowledge
- Knowledge of current construction laws, legislations, and regulations, standards, and procedures.
- In-depth knowledge of the construction industry.
Desirable knowledge
- Working knowledge of different forms of contract.
- Understanding of programme duration and sequencing of works of relevant aspects of construction.
Essential experience
- Demonstratable experience of the delivery of construction projects.
- Experience managing multiple supply chains, including sub-contractors and suppliers.
- Experience of dealing with clients, contractors, and construction activities.
- Experience managing consultants to ensure design and quality assurance deliverables are achieved and recorded.
- Design, procurement, construction, and delivery experience.
- Experienced with and capable of being part of a bid team and undertaking pre-construction planning.
Desirable experience
- Experience in the design of temporary and permanent works (including BIM, BIW, CAD).
