We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Controller to join our growing Defence consultancy team, supporting the delivery of complex and high-profile programmes across the UK Defence sector.
Working alongside Project Managers, Programme Managers, and senior stakeholders, you will provide critical project controls support, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role offers the opportunity to work on strategically important programmes that contribute to the UK's national security and defence capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules and plans.
- Track project performance against key milestones, budgets, and deliverables.
- Produce accurate project reporting, dashboards, and management information.
- Support forecasting activities and monitor project costs and resource utilisation.
- Assist in risk, issue, and dependency management processes.
- Analyse project data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Support project governance activities, including review boards and stakeholder meetings.
- Maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with programme controls processes.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate and timely project information.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project controls and PMO practices.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Experience in a Project Controls, PMO, Project Planning, Project Support, or Project Coordination role.
- Strong understanding of project lifecycle management and governance processes.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience producing project reports, KPIs, and management information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Must hold active SC Clearance or be eligible to obtain SC Clearance.
- Previous experience within Defence, Aerospace, Government, Engineering, or highly regulated environments.
- Knowledge of project planning tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
- Familiarity with risk and schedule management methodologies.
- Professional qualifications such as APM PMQ, PRINCE2, or equivalent.
Due to the nature of the projects involved, applicants must either:
- Hold current SC (Security Check) Clearance; or
- Be eligible and willing to undergo SC Clearance.
Eligibility typically requires:
- British citizenship or appropriate residency status.
- A minimum period of UK residency in line with UK Government vetting requirements.
