Programme Manager 12 Month FTC

Job Description

So, who are we?

IG has been at the centre of retail trading and investment since 1974, when we helped create the market for financial spread betting. Today, we're a FTSE100 fintech operating across five continents, serving over 700,000 clients and handling billions in transactions - built on decades of scale, trust and proof. We didn't pivot to innovation; it's how we've always operated. What that means for the people who work here is real: genuinely complex problems to solve, the technology and resources to tackle them properly, and the kind of scope that’s rare in established businesses.

The bar is high - bring a curious and forward-thinking mindset and we'll give you the platform to define what comes next.

Join us at IG – the future gets built here.

Your role in the Team’s Success

The Programme Manager will work directly for the Transformation Director as a core member of the Programme Management Office (PMO), the independent nerve centre for IG's company-wide transformation programme spanning technology modernisation, AI adoption, acquisition integration, operating and organisational model change, and procurement and external spend optimisation.

The role is hands-on: running the day-to-day mechanics of governance, reporting and risk management so the Transformation Director can focus on ExCo engagement, sequencing decisions and stakeholder alignment. You’ll work closely with the Transformation Finance Partner and People Partner to ensure cost, benefit, and engagement data feed into a single integrated view. Like the PMO as a whole, the Programme Manager does not own implementation or business outcomes - delivery responsibility sits with initiative owners, and accountability for budgets and benefits remains with the relevant budget owners.

What you’ll do
  • Orchestrate the transformation programme across workstreams: sequencing activity, tracking progress and surfacing issues for resolution, providing hands-on planning support to individual workstreams where required.

  • Own the programme's governance controls on behalf of the Transformation Director; steering group cadence, decision logs, RAID logs and reporting standards - consistent and lightweight, not bureaucratic.

  • Maintain the integrated view of milestones, dependencies, risks and expected benefits across initiatives, surfacing overlaps and sequencing conflicts before they become problems.

  • Prepare concise, decision-oriented reporting for the Transformation Director, Steering Group and ExCo, translating complex programme activity into clear, honest narratives.

  • Manage communication and relationships with initiative owners and workstream leads, coordinating cross-project activity and managing interfaces between projects.

  • Support Finance and budget owners to track transformation expenditure, forecast benefits and validate realised savings.

  • Constructively challenge initiative owners where plans, forecasts or reported status are not sufficiently robust.

  • Provide hands-on support to initiatives at risk, while keeping delivery accountability with initiative owners.

  • Support the delivery of change management activity across workstreams, owning the tracking and reporting of adoption and behavioural change.

  • Coordinate other project managers and workstream support resources as the PMO scales.

What you’ll need for this role
  • Experience managing large, complex, multi-workstream programmes, ideally spanning technology, operating model and organisational change.

  • Comfortable operating in both Agile and traditional delivery environments, adapting governance to the workstream rather than applying one method rigidly.

  • Proven track record delivering programmes to specification, on time and within budget, with credible evidence of benefits realisation.

  • Certified Project/Programme Manager (PRINCE2, APM, MSP or equivalent).

  • Experience in technology transformation, risk and governance within a regulated or fast-paced global organisation and is comfortable with ambiguity.

  • Able to influence, advise and hold accountable senior and C-level stakeholders without eroding their ownership of delivery.

  • Strong analytical capability across budgets, forecasts, savings and business cases.

  • A clear, confident communicator, verbally and in writing, able to establish credibility quickly across a broad range of stakeholders.

  • Highly organised and hands-on, with a bias towards decisions and outcomes over process and administration.

How we work

We think like a start-up, but we deliver like a FTSE 100 — so the bar is high, and we won't pretend otherwise. We work hybrid, which means three days in the office.

Own the ambiguity: You'll work through it without a playbook, and get real ownership over how you solve it — excellence isn't optional here, it's the standard you hold yourself to.

Question everything: Curiosity is our currency — question what exists, and you'll have the platform to define what comes next.

Deliver at pace: The pace is real, but so is the momentum: deliver at speed, unpick hard problems, and help define the future of fintech.

Raise the bar: Take your craft seriously, and you'll be surrounded by people who take theirs just as seriously — that's the legacy you're building on, and adding to.

It really is more than a job. We’ll recognize your talent and make sure that you can still have a life – at work, and outside of it. Networks, committees, awards, sports and social clubs, mentorships, volunteering opportunities, extra time off… the list goes on.
